Essie — Lapis of Luxury (Nail Polish) Swatch & Review

Collection: Essie Spring 2010, Resort

Lapis of Luxury and Turquoise & Caicos are both from a href=”http://www.fivezero.ca/library/brands/?cn=81″>Essie’s 2010 Resort Collection, and while the colors themselves are lovely, the formulas are both a bit thin and sheer. Both required 3–4 coats for full opacity, which is a little irritating.

Lapis of Luxury, unlike the medium-to-deep, vibrant blue we typically associate with its namesake stone, is a light blue creme. It does have a touch of purple, but I would not go so far as to call it a periwinkle. (Admittedly, it seems to pull more periwinkle on my hands than it does in the bottle!) Its semi-sheer consistency does give it a slight jelly-ish look, but it’s not fully jelly.
