Collection: Pacifica Fall 2014, 7 Free Nail Color Launch
I found Pacifica cosmetics on sale recently, and was pleased to find that they have a new line of nail polish, 7 Free Nail Color. I’ve tried and liked Pacifica perfumes, body products, and candles before, so I didn’t hesitate to pick up an eyeshadow palette (which I will review later) and a nail polish.
Abalone seemed like the most unique shade, so that’s what I chose. In the bottle, it’s a medium-toned greenish Tahitian pearl-grey with a fairly strong olive green and amethyst purple iridescence. I feel like we see a lot of green and amethyst iridescent polishes, but this is the first time I think I’ve seen it in a grey base, and that is actually what makes it look very much like its namesake, the interior of an abalone shell.
The polish itself is a little on the sheer side, which I was initially disappointed with, but on the other hand, the sheerness does lend itself well to layering over other colors, which is always cool to do with iridescent polishes. The polish built up well, and at two coats I felt like it was enough coverage. The polish did not apply perfectly evenly: even though the iridescence masks a lot of flaws, if you look carefully you can indeed see small streaky areas. Staying power is average (no base coat, Color Club top coat): I have very minor tipwear by Day 3. I don’t think I’d buy another Pacifica polish unless the color was especially unique, as the overall performance is just so-so. I do like the Abalone color very much, though!
Pacifica 7 Free Nail Color, 0.45 fl. oz. / 13.3 mL. MSRP $9 US/CA (I do appreciate the price not being jacked up in Canada! Yay!). Pacifica nail polish is vegan and cruelty-free. It does not contain parabens, phthalates (dibutyl phthalate), toluene, xylene, camphor, formaldehyde, and resin.
