Can I just say that I love Shoppers Optimum Points?! Canadians will know to save up points racked up at national pharmacy chain Shoppers Drug Mart, for those once-in-a-while Spend Your Points events that give you more pow for your points than usual.
This weekend, Canadians can redeem their Shoppers Optimum Points for the following dollar amounts:
- Redeem 50,000 points for $100 off (normally $85 off)
- Redeem 95,000 points for $200 off (normally $170 off)
You can redeem for most things, including prestige beauty items! That means all the fancy perfumes and the boutique brands that SDM sells, like Anna Sui, BeneFit, Chanel, Clarins, Clarisonic, Clinique, Dior, Elizabeth Arden, Givenchy, Guerlain, Lancôme, Lise Watier, L’Occitane, Shiseido, Smashbox, Stila, and German brands Artdeco and Misslyn. Skincare includes stuff like La Roche Posay, Nuxe, philosophy, and Vichy. They also carry nail polish brands like Essie, Nails Inc., Ceramic Glaze, and LACC. SDM’s store brand, Quo, is also pretty great and have their nail polish made by Orly. There is a brand finder on their website (it’s how I scouted out the locations near me that carry Urban Decay).
I had saved up my SDM Optimum points for years and years, but because I never really bought much there (the prices are generally a bit higher than at other drugstores), I never bothered to spend my measly number of points I’d accumulated. However, once the little peanut arrived last year, we’ve been spending somewhat more on drugstore items.
You can also start racking up points pretty fast when you sign up for the Optimum emails, which constantly send out coupons. Add on the SDM credit card, too, and we have a lot more points to spend these days. Finally, nearly all the SAs and staff at SDM that I have dealt with are really nice and they leave you to browse the cosmetic sections in peace!
I racked up so many points that I was able to redeem my points at two recent events (one late last year and one just a month ago). For the first one (redeemed 95,000 points for $210, an extra $40), I redeemed for:
- Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez 50 mL edp (plus GWP lotion)
- Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Mandarin
- Nuxe Crème Fraîche de Beauté (plus GWP Nuxellence Jeunesse)
- Proraso shave soaps and Nivea after shave balms for the guy
- Ferrari cologne as a joke gift (don’t even know what it smells like!)
And for the second one (Beauty Event for cosmetic products only, redeemed 80,000 points for $200, an extra $64):
- Chanel Coco Noir 50 mL edp
- Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Fig
- Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette
I think I’m going to pass on this weekend’s Spend Event since there’s finally not much on my drugstore shopping list. Amazing, huh?
