Collection: butter LONDON Spring 2015, High Tea
I just picked up the new spring High Tea 4-piece mini lacquer set from butter LONDON, and I am really, really loving it! It comes with four mini sized nail lacquers from their High Tea collection (it doesn’t include Cheers!, Kip, and Sloane Ranger):
- Ruby Murray, a deep cranberry sauce cream
- High Tea, a sophisticated beige cream
- Tiddly, a bright coral pastel cream
- Green Fairy (set exclusive, also available briefly from their website earlier this month), a correction-fluid mint green cream
The packaging is utterly adorable and each 6 mL polish is very like a small version of the full sized (11 mL) polish, right down to the rectangular outer cap and the little bird logo on the inner, ridged round cap. The brush is the same size, as well. This is how minis should be done!
Ruby Murray, named after the Northern Irish singer with the beautifully catchy name, is a really gorgeous, plum-toned red cream that is exactly the color of homemade cranberry sauce, with the smooth finish of the glossy canned stuff (haha!). My one and only complaint with Ruby Murray is that I think it’s a three coater…and possibly four. It is slightly jellied and does not cover perfectly evenly. The color is amazing enough for me to still recommend it, however. I think I might have to spring for the full sized bottle!
Now, anyone who takes a look at my nail polish collection can tell that I am no great fan of “nude” polishes. Generally, I just prefer a bright or a vampy color! And, I’ve never worked in an environment requiring me to wear only very conservative nail polish. Having said that, High Tea might just be the first such polish I’ve loved in years and years. It’s super glossy (seriously, you won’t ven need a top coat to add gloss) and really looks like black tea with loads of cream, which is just the way I like it. I used three coats to get it well evened out.
Tiddly (meaning a little bit drunk in British slang) is perfect for spring: a bright, happy pastel coral. Two to three coats will work; this one probably had the best formula of the four.
Green Fairy is probably my favorite mint green cream now. It’s very whitened, like green correction fluid, and for a super pastel, it applies perfectly. I used two to three thin coats to even it out fully. My husband hates it (says it reminds him of the undead or something). I think it’s perfect.
