Pixi by Petra is another cosmetic company that I hadn’t heard of until I received one of their products in my Ipsy bag (referral link) this month. They’re based in the UK and while they have a link to their US site, I couldn’t get it to display prices in USD.
(I also just noticed that they have nail polish, as well, so I am adding them to the Nail Polish Library today! I hope you’ll check it out if you haven’t already.)
When I first saw the little pressed powder duo, I admit that I wasn’t entirely sure whether it was an eyeshadow duo or perhaps a blush/bronzer. It isn’t clear on the packaging! A quick check on Pixi’s website told me that their Mesmerizing Mineral is in fact eyeshadow, and it only comes in a 6-color palette. The duo I got from Ipsy isn’t on their site. They only have five palettes, and I can only assume the Apricot Glow duo I received is selected from their Copper Peach palette, though I suppose there’s a possibility it’s from the Emerald Gold palette.
The packaging is cute but decidedly drugstore: a small, square plastic palette with a clear hinged lid and a signature pale green base. It’s one of those hinges that is a pain to open without possibly damaging your nail polish. Of course, this item is a promo, so perhaps the full-sized product doesn’t have the same packaging style.
Apricot Glow is a duo consisting of a warm, peachy gold shimmer and a midtone warm, golden chocolate shimmer. Both are pretty smooth and shimmery, and not highly pigmented. They’re nice for a sheer wash of shimmer, though you can build it up a little, as well. The lighter apricot shade goes a little plain wheat on me; I don’t see a lot of peachy tones on my already yellow-toned skin. It’s a nice highlight color for me, but probably a bit excessively shimmery for my taste. The midtone brown is pretty and somewhat orange-toned on me.
This eyeshadow gets an overall meh from me. It’s not something I’m likely to use again, and it doesn’t make me particularly interested in the full-sized eyeshadow palettes from the line.
Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral eyeshadow 6-color palette retails for £12.00 (about US$18). The promo size I reviewed is 0.03 oz / 0.75 g, but I can’t say how that compares with the full-size. The product is made in China.
Pixi by Petra was started over 10 years ago by makeup artist Petra Strand, and is based in London, England. It appears to be owned by a company called Sjovik Ltd., which is based in Guernsey and also owns Pop Beauty.
*yawn*
No, not at your post!
This eye shadow duo leaves something to be desired.
Interesting tidbit about this company also owning Pop Beauty. I see Pop Beauty stuff from time to time at Winners – was never sure if it was good quality.
I have a pixi review coming up this week – their infamous eye liner – I bought it at Target while the brand was still available in Canada.

[Sigh, I posted this as a reply to myself instead of to you back in March. LOL. Fixing it now.]
Oh, I know. It was disappointing, since the colors are quite pretty in the pan.
I’m not sure I’ve seen Pop Beauty at my Winners, but then I can be a little blind (or distracted by nail polish).
I’ll definitely check out your review of the Pixi liner! Hope it turns out much better than this eyeshadow.
