Just in time for Mother’s Day (in North America, anyway!), Shoppers Drug Mart is holding yet another Spend Your Points Event.

This weekend, Canadians can redeem their Shoppers Optimum Points for the following dollar amounts:

  • Redeem 50,000 points for $100 off (normally $85 off)
  • Redeem 95,000 points for $200 off (normally $170 off)

I’ve seen better (sometimes it goes up to $210 or $220 back for 95k points), but this is pretty much the standard points event. Not bad if you were going to pick up some cosmetics or fragrances, anyway! Or anything else at the drugstore, really. The last time it was strictly for beauty purchases; this time it is for most things in store. See full details at shoppersdrugmart.ca.

You can redeem for most things, including prestige beauty items! That means all the fancy perfumes and the boutique brands that SDM sells, like Anna Sui, BeneFit, Chanel, Clarins, Clarisonic, Clinique, Dior, Elizabeth Arden, Givenchy, Guerlain, Lancôme, Lise Watier, L’Occitane, Shiseido, Smashbox, Stila, and German brands Artdeco and Misslyn. Skincare includes stuff like La Roche Posay, Nuxe, philosophy, and Vichy. They also carry nail polish brands like Essie, Nails Inc., Ceramic Glaze, and LACC. SDM’s store brand, Quo, is also pretty great and have their nail polish made by Orly. There is a brand finder on their website (it’s how I scouted out the locations near me that carry Urban Decay).

If you’re thinking of picking up a perfume for Mom, may I suggest a few of my faves (a couple of which I picked up at previous Spend Your Points Events!):

  • Burberry – Brit & Brit Rhythm
  • Chanel – Coco Noir & N°5 Eau Première (though I heard they’ve altered it, sadly)
  • Dior – Dior Homme (seriously amazing!) & Dune
  • Donna Karan – Cashmere Mist
  • Lolita Lempicka
  • Narciso Rodriguez – Narciso
  • Rihanna – Nude

I especially like to pick up the ones that aren’t usually available (or are not very discounted) at online fragrance discounters: Chanel, Dior, etc.

Happy points spending!

  1. I’m waiting until I hit the top level before redeeming. I think they have the “richer” redemptions around holiday time.
What’s the best thing you’ve redeemd for at Shoppers?
Mine would have to be Guerlain Météorites. 🙂 I had been wanting it forever and finally got it on Optimum points.. which started an obsession with collecting them! (I only have 3 so far)

    • Ooh that is a good one! I always forget Guerlain is available since my nearest locations don’t carry it. During the last two events I picked up UD Naked (I know, very late to the party), Narciso, and Chanel Coco Noir, so probably those!

      • Here’s a shocker: I do not own ANY of the UD Naked palettes. I just don’t see a need for all of those eye shadows. I do own individual shades from the palettes but the whole thing wasn’t appealing to me.

        • Oh, I am such a sucker for eyeshadow palettes…even though I basically just use taupe every day. 😀 I didn’t buy much m/u the last few yrs (spent more on handbags, sigh) and just got back into it last yr, which is why I never got into the UD stuff until now.

One of the few m/u items I did get during my “hiatus” was the LORAC Unzipped palette, which I love. So, I thought I’d give UD a try!
