Illamasqua — Faithful (Nail Varnish)

Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Faithful

Brown nail polishes aren’t usually my thing (unless they’re vampy), but Faithful had enough of an interesting orange tone to sway me. Illamasqua calls it a “coppered metal, metallic finish”. I think it looks deeper and like it has a lot more depth to it on Illamasqua’s website. My bottle’s color looks a little muted and soft. This isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s not what I expected!

Faithful is a soft orange-toned fawn with a bit of shimmer to it. The shimmer has a bit of a scattered look, so I don’t really get the metallic finish that it’s supposed to have. It’s a nice but, to me, kind of dull polish. If these ultra-warm neutral shades appeal to you, then this is one to get. My first meh with Illamasqua!

The soft shimmer finish is very forgiving, however, and two coats is all you need for a nice, even application.

The packaging is very nice and sleek. The square cap comes off and there is a smaller, ridged, round cap inside that makes application very easy.

  1. I love this shade but my friend was “meh” about it too, like you!
I almost didn’t buy this one because I have Deborah Lippmann “No More Drama” – they’re similar but NMD is a little bit more milky and warmer.
I wish I had bought a back up of this shade.
