Collection: Revlon 2010 Spring/Summer: Scents of Summer
Scented nail polish isn’t something I’d go out of my way to find, but this ended up being gifted to me by someone who knows I like nail polish (but, bless him, has zero idea about nail polish, in general!).
Revlon released a couple of Scented Nail Enamel collections in 2009 and 2010 in bright, summery shades. (They have since released the Parfumerie line, as well, which come in awesome looking retro-styled bottles, but I haven’t seen them in person.)
Grape Icy is from the 2010 collection, and I suspect I got a dud bottle. When I Googled for the collections, I noticed that many (though not all) swatch photos of Grape Icy were of rich, midtoned purple shimmers.
Mine looks like this, with three coats:
That’s pretty sheer. Not feeling it. I also noticed that my bottle has a black band with silver print, just like many of the bottles from swatchers in Latin America and Europe. The American swatchers tended to have bottles with gold bands and black lettering. I don’t know whether this indicated a difference in formula or color.
As for the scent, when dry, the polish smells like someone sucking on a grape lollipop in a janitor’s closet. Revlon said the scent would last for five days, but I’m not willing to test out that claim.
A for my giftee’s effort; F for the product. I’m pretty sure he bought it at a Rexall pharmacy, too, so it’s unlikely to have been tampered with. Disappointing, Revlon!
Revlon Scented Nail Enamel retails (retailed? not sure whether it’s still being produced) for around US$4.99 / CA$5.99 and is 0.5 US fl oz / 14.7 mL. It is free of toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and is made in the USA.

I love grape scents! But too bad this is the sheer version. I bet it would look neat as a topper.
I picked up a few of these scented polishes back in the day and I really like them – most of mine were chosen for the colour (light pink, peaches – are you surprised?) rather than the scent.
Last year I did pick up a couple of the Perfumerie ones at a beauty discount place and while the polish quality were good, the scents were weird – very artificial. I’d rather have the fruity smells.

Glad to know that they were actually good! 🙂
You know, it’d be cool if Revlon would update their classic nail polish bottle to something like the Parfumerie ones – something old school and elegant.

The Parfumerie bottles are nice but the handles (round knobs) are kind of annoying. I can’t get a proper grip on them.

Figures that Revlon would mess up nail polish packaging once again!

Omg that is too sheer for all that work! Ugh.

I hope mine is just a lemon 🙂 Other pics make it seem OK. Unlucky me.
