Perhaps I’m a bit weird, but I love Clinique’s silver metal lipstick packaging. They’re sleek, cute, have a nice weight to them, and the brushed metal rings help provide grip and prevent unsightly fingerprints. LOVE! The High Impact Lip Color tubes have alternating wide and narrow bands (the Different Lipsticks just have the narrow bands all the way down). My favorite tubes are the Butter Shines with their bamboo-inspired styling (though those lack the brushed metal finish and therefore have an issue with visible fingerprints).
Since Clinique Bonus Time is happening in Canada, here’s a review of one of my oft-used lipsticks, Citrus Rose in the Clinique High Impact formula.
The color is a lovely reddish rose with golden shimmer, which gives it a very pretty peachy tone. It’s just the right level of brightness for daytime wear. Those who fear reds should have no issue with this one!
I am pretty certain that the older formula used to have SPF 15. However, my new lipstick (I bought it perhaps two years ago) doesn’t seem to have it, and the website makes no mention of sunscreen in the product.
The finish is satin-y, but I do find this lipstick to be a tad drying. It is supposed to be a longer-wear formula (from Clinque.ca):
High on colour, long on comfort. Dressed-up colour wears beautifully for 8 hours. And lips enjoy every minute. In highly moisturizing shades that continually smooth, soften, comfort.
It wears well for me, but I wouldn’t class it as a long-wear. It lasts about 6 hours on me and it needs touching up by then. I’ve never found Clinique’s lipsticks to be especially long-wear, but the colors can be lovely and the formulas are usually reasonably comfortable. The High Impact formula is more drying than the Different Lipsticks, so for that reason I am not sure I’d repurchase this lipstick. The color is fab, though, and it does wear longer than the Different Lipsticks do.
Clinique High Impact Lip Color is US$16 / CA$19 and is 0.12 oz / 3.4 g. It is made in Belgium.
