Rexall is one of the larger drugstore chains in Canada, and their in-house brand of nail polish is one I hadn’t tried before even though they launched it a couple of years ago in 2013. (I guess I tend to go to competitor Shoppers Drug Mart a lot more!) When it was recently 30% off, I decided to pick one up and give it a try.
KIT by Rexall (not to be confused with Kit Cosmetics, an Australian brand that also makes nail polish) Nai Lacquer generally looks like a drugstore line, with a very standard squared bottle and matching squared cap. It’s similar to the Flower Beauty polish bottles. The KIT cap is black, matte plastic, and has a micro-pebbled texture so it provides reasonably good grip.
The brush is a little thick and splays easily, but I didn’t find it difficult to work with.
The color I chose was Bronze Beauty, which is far less bronze to me than it is pewter. I’d call it a deep browned grey with old silver metallic shimmer. It’s actually a pretty nice pewter shimmer, with an unexpected depth. The shimmer is prettier in the sunlight, but shimmers do look rather flatter indoors than they do in bright, natural light. I’m not sure I have anything quite like it, so I’m pleasantly pleased with my first KIT choice!
The formula is good for a drugstore-priced polish. It is nicely opaque with two coats, and applies evenly. The finish isn’t totally smooth and glossy, but a top coat will fix that. I look forward to trying a KIT cream finish to see if it will apply as well as this loaded shimmer does. I’ll wait for another sale, though, as for the same price or even a little less, I can get OPI, Essie, or China Glaze at Winners.
KIT by Rexall Nail Lacquer is CA$6.99 and 0.5 fl oz / 15 mL. It is available exclusively at Rexall drugstores across Canada, and is free of toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP). It is made in the USA.
Rexall Canada / Rexall Pharma Plus is owned by Katz Group of Cos., based in Edmonton, AB, Canada. (As an aside, Katz Group also owns Rexall Sports, which operates the Edmonton Oilers, amongst other sports teams.)
Fab colour! x

I totally confused this brand with the Australian nail polish brand. For ages, I kept looking for the shade “Move Up” at Rexall but could never find it! Then one day it dawned on me – ooooh, NOT the same brand! Duh.
These nail polish bottles remind me of the Nars ones. I’m assuming the cap doesn’t come off?
I’ve a bunch of colours similar to this shade (I agree, this is squarely in the pewter camp!) since I seem to gravitate toward them. OPI The World is Not Enough comes to mind… so does Soulstice Troy…

Ha, you’re good! I mentioned Flower’s bottle b/c I have a new bottle of it right in front of me at my desk. But yes, it is almost exactly the same as NARS (though I compared it with an old one and am not sure if the new ones are any different). Chanel, too, though NARS is the closest. And no, the cap doesn’t come off.
I tend not to buy blacks/greys much! Too many colors to go for instead 🙂
LOL @ looking for the Aussie brand! Looks like Rexall didn’t do their due diligence to see if a similar product had the same name. I guess they’re not sold in the same regions.
