Empties for May 2015

Empties for May 2015 (Jason Naturals, Pure Anada, The Body Shop, Clinique)

I managed to finish up four (well, almost) products last month! They are:

  • The Body Shop Shower Gel in Satsuma (250 mL, from a gift set)
  • Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara in Black (GWP size, 4 mL)
  • Jason Naturals Hand & Body Lotion in Invigorating Rosewater (237 mL)
  • Pure Anada Lip Balm in Cocoa Mint

All items were used up, except for the Pure Anada Lip Balm, which I am choosing to discard only partially used. Here are my reviews of the four products!

The Body Shop Shower Gel in Satsuma

I have long loved The Body Shop’s Satsuma fragrance, but I’m starting to think that I’m not going to keep buying it in their Shower Gel anymore. I am finding their Shower Gel to be a bit drying (I have really dry skin, so this is probably only a problem for me!). I’m also not a huge fan of their Body Butters, so I am starting to run out of products to obtain with Satsuma fragrance! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Sorry about the pic with soap and hard water residue all over the bottle! We have unpleasantly hard tap water.

Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara in Black

This was a GWP (I have two!) and it lasted me about half a year. Granted, I don’t use mascara every day, and I don’t use the same mascara all the time, either. This was a pretty well-rounded mascara: a little lengthening, a little volumizing, quite black, quite waterproof. Generally, it’s like a more expensive version of CoverGirl Professional Mascara, for me. I’ll stick with the cheaper one. (I do have a second GWP of this mascara to use up, though! We may see this product reappear in an empties post in six months’ time.)

Jason Naturals Hand & Body Lotion in Invigorating Rosewater

This has a pleasant, watery rose scent, though I am basically a sucker for rose. I would not repurchase it simply because it’s not a terribly moisturizing lotion. Like its scent, it has a watery feel to it (pleasantly approaching gel-like consistency, not annoying and runny). It absorbs well and isn’t greasy. If you don’t have terribly dry skin, this lotion is worth checking out. For me, it’s not nearly moisturizing enough.

Pure Anada Lip Balm in Cocoa Mint

Ooh, I really didn’t like this. It’s waxy and just sits on top of my lips. After a few months, the consistency has gone a little grainy, as well. The scent is OK, but I can’t really smell it once the balm is on my lips. Sorry. I want to support an independent Canadian brand, but I would definitely not recommend this lip balm. I have finished about half of it, since I am generally willing to suck it up with a slightly unpleasant product rather than be wasteful, but the rest is finally getting chucked.

  1. Awesome post! Have you heard of this 3D fiber mascara from Younique? Definitely a favorite for me! The fibers are 100% black green tea fibers and you use it with their gel. It is $29, but it gives you the volume and length plus it has totally eliminated my need for a curler (no joke check out my blog and video here: https://gratefulnerd.wordpress.com/2015/05/14/sayonara-eyelash-curler/). Plus it lasts you 3+ months (with everyday use) and comes with a fab case! https://www.youniqueproducts.com/LaSarah/products/view/US-1017-00#.VVqgv_lViko No smudging! This stuff is awesome (and if it doesnโ€™t work out you can get a full refund no questions if returned within 14 days, 80% refund after 15-30 days)!

  2. Yay empties! ๐Ÿ˜€
I have the old Body Shop Satsuma perfume oil… I like mixing that into unscented body lotion. Also, for a creamsicle scent, I mix it with Vanilla perfume oil!
I’ve had natural lip balms turn grainy on me before too – I emailed the company and they said it was due to the cold temperature.

    • Yeah, seems like that’s typical of all-natural products (have you tried all-natural peanut butter? I just can’t deal with the consistency LOL). Oh well.

Satsuma perfume oil…nice! I should see if they still make it. I love orange creamsicle. Hugo Naturals makes a great one, too!
