Boucheron Jaïpur Homme & Paco Rabanne pour Homme Swatch & Review

Happy Father’s Day!

In honor of the day, I thought I’d share two favorite colognes of two of my favorite guys, my dad and my husband.

Boucheron Jaïpur Homme eau de toilette

Jaïpur Homme by Boucheron has long been one of my dad’s favorite scents, and I admit, it’s a handy gift to get him, as he can be pretty difficult to buy for. Jaïpur Homme, unusually, also comes in an eau de parfum concentration, though I think the eau de toilette is plenty strong! Jaïpur is a very well-blended, heady combination of floral, citrus and spice notes. They didn’t name it after a beautiful Indian city for nothing! The fragrance was launched in 1998 and was composed by Annick Menardo (Bvlgari Black, Lolita Lempicka, Diesel Fuel for Life).

Paco Rabanne pour Homme eau de toilette (30 mL)Paco Rabanne pour Homme is a bit of a classic. It was given to my husband, when he was a teenager, by his dad, and it is the first cologne I ever smelled on him. It was fantastic: green, herby, woody, sensual yet non-threatening (hahaha!). It was also strong as heck, so if you own the vintage formulation, seriously…tone it down! The newer reformulated version is weaker and “cleaner” smelling (presumably because the rich mossy basenotes are gone), though it’s still serviceably green and woody, reminiscent of a pine forest. I can only hope that by the time our son is old enough to wear cologne, IRFA regulations won’t have turned this cologne into Pine-Sol. Paco Rabanne pour Homme was launched in 1973 and was composed by Jean Martel.

Both of the colognes are made in France.

Do you like to give colognes on Father’s Day? What are your (or, their) favorites?

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, everyone!

  1. This post is fabulous with thoughtful idea of giving cologne to a lovely dad/husband on Father’s day and both of them are absolutely good in their own way and when it comes to me, I would like to gift Bleu de Chanel from Chanel as their fragrance is more masculine in aroma.
