Hard Candy Nail Color (20th Anniversary) in Mint

Hard Candy — Mint (20th Anniversary Nail Color)

Collection: Hard Candy, Summer 2015, 20th Anniversary

This week, I’m reviewing the five Hard Candy 20th Anniversary Nail Colors I recently bought. The packaging for this collection is a throwback to the old school Hard Candy polish bottles, and it was the main reason I was keen to pick them up! The five I got are Claws Up!, Coconut, Mint, Scam (all re-releases from the original polishes), and Zombie (one of three new shades).

Today’s review is for Mint, one of the five re-released shades in the collection. It’s a pale, pastel mint green with subtle shimmer.

I’m not going to cover details about the bottle and brush here, since I’ve already talked about them in my first review for Coconut.

The shimmer in Mint is probably a little too subtle, giving it a soft creamy look, with a touch of pearl. I do like it, as it is really reminiscent of pistachio ice cream, which I love!

Application was surprisingly good for a pastel. Two coats was good, though I preferred three.

Hard Candy Nail Color retails for US$4.00 / CA$3.98 (I don’t understand, but I’m not complaining!). However, the regular cylindrical bottles contain 0.26 fl oz / 7.8 mL, while the 20th Anniversary square bottles contain 0.46 fl oz / 13.5 mL. It is free of toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP). Hard Candy is cruelty-free and made in the USA.

Hard Candy LLC is currently owned by Falic Fashion Group, a subsidiary of Duty Free Americas, Inc. (FFG purchased the company from LVMH, who had bought the company in 1999.) Hard Candy is sold exclusively at Wal-Mart.

    • I’m not sure whether any grocery store brands carry pistachio anymore (Haagen-Dazs used to have a nice one). I like to get pistachio whenever we hit up an ice cream/gelato shop that offers it. A lot of places seem to rotate their offerings, so I guess it’s hit or miss! Pistachio’s especially nice with apple crumble 😀
