Brand: Rimmel
I’ll be honest—this is the first Rimmel nail polish I have bought in many years! The last ones were probably the Underground Play Fast collection from 2007. They were awesome polishes (definitely doing them for Throwback Thursday sometime!).
However, recent reviews I’ve seen for the new Rita Ora collections have not been glowing.
But since I hadn’t tried Rimmel in such a long time, I thought I’d pick one up. I mean, they’re pretty cheap (~C$3), and I think the little bottles are really cute, anyway. I goofed, though, and picked up a color from the core collection instead of one from a Rita Ora collection. Pretty dumb, considering the Rita Oras have Rita Ora stickers on their caps, and the core colors have Union Jack stickers. I guess I really liked the color!
Mintilicious is a light pastel mint cream that leans quite turquoise.
It requires three coats, like most pastel creams. By the third coat, it actually evens out quite nicely and I was reasonably pleased with it. OK, so it’s no Illamasqua, but for $3, I’ll definitely deal. (Granted, the product size is substantially smaller than that of most regular sized nail polishes.)
My main complaint is that the brush is ginormous. They’re also going for a rounded paddle tip, but the execution isn’t good and the edge is a bit uneven. It didn’t make it terribly hard to apply the polish, but I’d have preferred a more slender and well-cut brush.
Overall, I recommend this polish if you’re looking for a cute color at a low price.
Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish is 0.27 fl oz / 8 mL and retails for between $3–4 in the US and Canada. The ingredient list on their website does not appear to include toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, or dibutyl phthalate (DBP). It is made in Spain.
Rimmel was founded as a perfumery in London, England, in 1834 by a French perfumer and his teenaged son, Eugène Rimmel. His company soon branched out into cosmetics, and even today, his name is synonymous with mascara in some languages. The company was family-owned until 1946; in 1996, it was acquired by cosmetic giant Coty.

Ooh minty. Yummy. Lol I like this but idk if it would be good for my skintone. It looks a hair too bright!

True True! I guess I am just thinking about what will look good on my toes. I don’t mind about the skintone thing as much with my fingers. Weird?!

GORGEOUS color! I always want to try these whenever I see them at the store, but always pass them by. Glad to know that this seems to be 3 free. I’m really trying to get away from the all of the nasty chemicals and feel like I need to part ways with my seche site because of the toluene – only thing in my nail collection that is not 3 free! Ugh!

Ah I didn’t realize Seche Vite wasn’t 3 Free. You just almost assume everyone is nowadays! I guess it’ll mess with their formula if they change it.

Yes! I always assumed it was because they use it at MiniLuxe salons, which boasts a 3 free slogan, so I was surprised! It would definitely mess with the formula if they removed the toluene!
