Collection: Essie Fall 2009, Cuddle with Color
Today’s polish isn’t the most seasonally appropriate for us in the northern hemisphere, but we can’t have only brights and pastels all summer, can we?
Essie calls Mink Muffs a “smoky plush taupe”. I see more of a hot cocoa brown with touches of taupe and mauve. The smooth and creamy finish works to remind me even more of a hot chocolate enjoyed in the wintertime!
I did two coats for my swatch, and it’s fine like that, but ideally I think I’d prefer three coats. I can see a bit of bald-spottage by the cuticles. I’m sure the color would darken up a little with that extra coat, as well.
I generally prefer my browns to be a little darker, but this is still a pretty nice change of pace for me. The undertones aren’t too rusty and orange like they are in some browns, which probably makes this flattering for a wider range of skintones.
Mink Muffs was first released in 2009, and it is still available in Essie’s core collection.
Essie Nail Polish retails for US$8.50 / CA$9.99–$10.99 and is 0.46 US fl oz / 13.5 mL. The polish is free of toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP). It is made in the USA.
Essie Cosmetics, founded in 1981, is based in Westfield NJ, USA. In 2010, Essie was acquired by the L’Oréal Group.

Yuuup, it’s a matching YARN and nail polish box. Like, could it be more perfect for me? I bought it as a present to myself but have yet to bust it open. I should probably do a review and then I’ll finally open the darn thing.

Yes! I knit! In fact, on my vacay I started a new project – socks. I love knitting socks but don’t like wearing them. I’ve got a few pairs of hand knitted socks that are unloved lol.
These days I mainly knit baby things cuz all my friend be popping out little munchkins!

LOL! I tried learning to knit/crochet once, but it was so difficult to get the hang of it and I think I’m just too impatient!

I was very proficient at crocheting when I was around 7 or 8 yo and then completely forgot how to do it. When I got older I hated the look of crocheted items so I turned to knitting and haven’t looked back! At the War Museum in Ottawa, we saw a scarf that was crocheted by the Queen and awarded to a soldier. (Naturally, I took a picture of it!)

Whoa, 7-8? That’s incredible! I’d love to try to learn to crochet again (it seems easier than knitting?) but I’ve still got an unfinished quilt. LOL…sigh
What a drab scarf, Queen Vic! 😀
