The Beauty Blogger Award 2: Joy Edition

Beauty Blogger Award

Styled With Joy has nominated me for a Beauty Blogger Award. I’ve recently done this, but I’m excited to answer Joy’s questions!

10 Questions from StyledWithJoy

1. Quick! You have 5 minutes to get ready. Describe the makeup look you’d do.

Foundation/concealer/powder, curl lashes, taupe eyeshadow, lipstick. If I have an extra minute, mascara.

2. Would you rather wear skinny jeans or short shorts for the rest of your life?

Skinny jeans. I’d rather not freeze to death and be somewhat unfashionable in the near future. ๐Ÿ™‚

3. All time favorite mascara?

Maybelline Full & Soft Waterproof, in black. Discontinued where I live. Of course!

4. What do you think of the new trend, strobing?

I never got into contouring, and I doubt I’ll have much interest in strobing, though I do use a little highlighter sometimes. I’m not really sure how strobing is different from regular highlighting, though, which has been a thing for a very long time…right? It seems to me that a strobing (if it’s done to the extent that contouring was) has the propensity to look really, really shiny/greasy, though.

5. Eye Primer or MAC Paint Pot?

I have not yet tried a Paint Pot (though it’s on my wishlist) and I don’t generally use eye primer. I just have dry skin and haven’t really found a need to use it. I will sometimes use a MAC Cream Colour Base, or eyeliner, as a base for my eyeshadow, though, just to make the color more intense. I just got a Maybelline Color Tattoo to try out, as well!

6. Fringe or kimonos?

Egad. I kind of hate fringe, and kimonos are just too costume-y. Fringy bags, in particular, look like lhasa apsos on a strap. (Love dogs, wouldn’t want to wear one!) If I have to pick, though, fringe.

7. Floppy hat or beanie?

Beanie. Mostly because I haven’t found a floppy hat that doesn’t look ridiculous on me. I love the look on others.

8. Holy grail perfume?

I really, really want Grossmith’s Shem-El-Nessim, but I can’t justify the price tag. Plus, it’s similar enough to Guerlain L’Heure Bleue, which I have and adore. I will go with Lancรดme 2000 et Une Rose, which DH got for me as a gift back in 2000 (or was it 1999?). Rose is my favorite perfume note.

9. Must have Orange lipstick?

10. Holy grail lip balm?

Nivea Essential.

Thanks for the nomination, Joy!

  2. “Foundation/concealer/powder, curl lashes, taupe eyeshadow, lipstick. If I have an extra minute, mascara.”
You can do all that in 5 minutes? I take 5 minutes just to apply mascara!
I got the same questions as you from Joy so I’ll reserve my rant about strobing when I answer that question, LOL.
Oh I’ll have to go smell Guerlain Lโ€™Heure Bleue and Lancรดme 2000 et Une Rose (if they’re still available?) since those seem to be reasonably priced compared to that Grossmith one!
Congrats on the award! I’m surprised this wasn’t called Beautifuller.

    • Yup, I often have to throw my face on pretty quickly ๐Ÿ˜€ Used to be out the door for work in 15 min (I shower in the evenings). I have like, no eyelashes so curling + 1 coat mascara takes a minute. The longest task is foundation/concealer, but I’m assuming here that I’m not having a stupid hormonal breakout! A sweep of really muted eyeshadow takes a minute. Lipstick is like 10 sec. Of course, this is all a bit slapdash, and I can definitely take longer if I want to!

I cannot wait to read your strobing rant!!

Yes! You need to sniff the old school Guerlains. I didn’t become really nuts for perfume until I smelled Mitsouko and L’Heure Bleue (“so THAT’S what perfume is supposed to smell like” –swoon–). 2000 et Une Rose in its original name and teardrop bottle are long gone, but they re-released it as Mille une Roses. It is a little harder to find, though.

  3. Congratulations on your award!! I enjoyed reading the answers to your questions. I don’t really understand strobing either. It think it’s just another name for highlighting. ๐Ÿ™‚ xo
