My August Topbox arrived on Monday, and while it’s a little bit more underwhelming than the last one, it’s still got a few things that I’ll end up using, so I am reasonably pleased with it.
You’re only supposed to receive four items in each Topbox, but every month they seem to send an extra sample or coupon, and this month I got a TRESemmé sample in addition to my actual Topbox.
What I Received
Regular Topbox
- DERMAdoctor KP Duty Lotion Dermatologist AHA Moisturizing Therapy for Dry Skin (30 mL sample) [MSRP CA$49.20 for 118 mL]
- Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum (sample) [MSRP CA$72 for 30 mL]
- Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Hairspray (53 mL, sample) [MSRP CA$9.46 for 300 mL]
- ModelCo SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss in Striptease (4 mL, full-sized) [MSRP US$20]
Extra
- TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray (45 mL, sample) [MSRP CA$5.99 for 200 mL]
Everything (except the TRESemmé, which was loose in the bag) came in the standard packaging: a pretty white and purple patterned cardboard cylinder.
What I am loving best about Topbox is that they really do seem to send me products that fit the profile that I filled out! I do have dry skin, and coincidentally, I had been shopping around for an AHA product for the last couple of weeks. Lo and behold, Topbox sent me an AHA product for dry skin. Perfect!
Haha! I have to admit that I laughed when I saw this. I got a sample of these Ceramide Capsules with an Elizabeth Arden GWP way back in the 90s, and I am not sure that I ever used it. I had some notion that they were meant for older women, and I was in my late teens then. I wonder if the formula for these has changed at all over the years…not that I’d know the difference, I suppose. Now that I’m well into the age group that’s targeted for anti-aging products (ripe old 30s), I guess I’ll give these a go the second time around.
I don’t use hairspray, so I am giving this to my mom. I believe this is the third hairspray sample I’ve gotten from subscription boxes (I also got one each from Ipsy and Birchbox), and Mom’s receiving all of them.
This is pretty! I am not typically a big lipgloss person, but I have been using them more this summer. The mirror on the side is nifty. Not gonna complain about a full-sized, pretty peach lipgloss.
This hair spray is meant to create waves in hair. Unfortunately, my hair is pretty thick and straight, so it mostly just does its own thing. I’ll give this product a try, as I’d love to get some pretty waves in my hair, but I won’t be holding my breath.
Verdict
I will definitely be using the ModelCo lipgloss (already have, actually, and hope to review it soon), the DERMAdoctor AHA treatment, and the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules. I’ll certainly give the TRESemmé a try, and the Marc Anthony hairspray ended up as a gift, so I think that overall, this month turned out pretty well! The grand total was CA$13.56 ($12 + tax).
Ooh what does a chicken have to do with AHA lotion? teeheeheee
I’ve always been curious about those EA capsules, seems so fancy! I’ve never received them in gwp though.
The ModelCo lipgloss does look lovely and usable – mirror on the tube definitely comes in handy! (no light though?!)

Hahaha, I wondered the same thing about the chicken as I was proofreading. Maybe the “KP” stands for…”Kinetic Poultry” or something like that. Oops, nevermind, I just Googled and it turns out that their products are meant for treating “chicken bumps” (keratosis pilaris, etc.) on the skin.
No light on the gloss. Guess I will have to tote around one of those Lise Watier Light Cap polishes, too. 😀

I like your guess “Kinetic Poultry”! Keratosis Pilaris is so unsexy.

Great box! Looks like you got some nice things! I love products by Marc Anthony. I use their sea salt beach waves spray and I just got a hair oil to try from Ipsy this month. The Model Co lip gloss looks really pretty too! 🙂 xo
