The Blogger Recognition Award 2: Game of Snubs

Last month, I was nominated for another Blogger Recognition Award by a most hilarious blogger, Diversion3000. She’s not the typical blogger I follow (i.e., she doesn’t review nail polish and lipstick), but I’ve giggled and snickered at enough of her posts that I’ve become a follower of this engaging 8th grader. Thank you for the nomination, D3! (God, 8th grade was such a long time ago. strokes beard)

Blogger Recognition Award Rules

  1. Write a post explaining why you started blogging along with a few tips.
  2. Nominate some of your fellow bloggers.
  3. Comment on their blogs to let them know you’ve nominated them.

My Answers

I’ve already responded to one of these here.

My Nominees

I’ll take the time to nominate a few blogs that I’ve discovered recently:

  1. Becca-anne Beauty
  2. Girl Bout Town
  3. itsjordanleigh
  4. The Pretty Pomegranate
  5. Tazzie Dee

Since there’s little actual content in this post, I’ll end off with a teeny rant about the Emmys. I don’t usually pay any attention to them since they tend to snub the shows I like best. But today, I saw that Game of Thrones took home a bunch of awards, including Best Drama Series and a well-deserved Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Peter Dinklage.

Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones

Fair enough, even though I don’t think this last GoT season was terribly even. Here’s my list of Top 5 Emmy Snubs:

  • American Horror Story: Freak Show
  • The Americans (Season 3)
  • Daredevil (Season 1)
  • Empire (Season 1)
  • Justified (Season 6)

American Horror Story: Freak Show, The Americans S3, Daredevil S1, Empire S1Justified, Season 6

It’s especially disappointing for Justified, since it just finished its final season. (I’d have added Hannibal, too, but I think it aired after the cutoff date for this year’s Emmys.)

And, of couse, the Emmys reminded me that there are many shows I still need to watch. The Top 5 on my catch-up list are:

  • The Affair
  • The Leftovers
  • Mr. Robot
  • Narcos
  • Sons of Anarchy

What TV shows are you loving?

  1. Thanks for my nomination! I can’t view your answers for some reason..will try again from a PC tomorrow.
I am watching absolutely nothing on TV at the moment. I’m still trying to find something worth the time after Breaking Bad…and I’m just way too fussy.
Thanks again! Will do this post soon 🙂

    • I saw the pilot ep of Orange Is the New Black a while ago – I definitely need to watch more! It was really good. I just get easily distracted. Too much programming to get through, nowadays 🙂 Thank you for the rec!

      • Omg, definitely I recommend watching more!! You’d have to see it in episode order though, it’s not the kind of show where you can jump around because it does follow a set story line and progression. But for sure, next rainy day you’re looking for a good watch, I recommend it highly – be prepared to spend hours!! 😀 Xx

  2. Thanks for the nomination! I love GOT so I was happy that they had a huge sweep at the Emmys. I’ve heard Empire was good (and the promos I see for it look great), but I’ve never seen it. It’s on my watch list though. 🙂

    • GoT really deserves a lot of acclaim, for sure! There’s so much story to cover, and for the most part, they do it very well. Empire is a big ol’ soap opera, which isn’t normally my thing, but it’s just done so well, and Taraji P. Henson is fantastic on it!

  3. Thanks for nominating me- I appreciate it!! Totally agree with you about American Horror Story:Freakshow, although the end of the season felt a bit rushed to me, the acting was superb!
