Collection: China Glaze 2015 Fall, The Great Outdoors
Welp, my low-buy’s not going that great! I spotted a slew of colors from China Glaze’s new fall collection, The Great Outdoors, at Winners and decided to pick up…several. This is the first China Glaze collection I’ve been wowed by for some time now! I got Cabin Fever, Check Out the Silver Fox, Free Bear Hugs, Pondering, Sleeping Under the Stars, and Wood You Wanna?
Pondering (82708) is a shimmery iridescent that shifts from purple to indigo blue to teal green. Check out this shot of the bottle’s base:
Pondering is one of those funny polishes that is kind of sheer and drippy-looking with just one coat, but two coats ends up giving you full opacity. The shimmer is fine, and there’s loads of it, so it ends up somewhere in between a pearl and a frost, but thankfully there are minimal streaks. The overall look is quite smooth, and the color shifts are visible even in dimmer light.
It is highly reminiscent of the kind of iridescence you see on some insects (click here for a photo of a rather pretty beetle).
There’ve been hits and misses from the polishes I’ve tried from this collection, and this one is a serious hit for me!
China Glaze Nail Lacquer retails for US$7.50 and is 0.5 US fl oz / 14 mL. China Glaze nail polishes are free of toluene, added formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and are made in the USA.
China Glaze is part of American International Industries (who also own brands like Seche, EzFlow and Ardell), a private company based in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
This is totally a beetle coloured polish! Beautiful.
I’m trying to think if I own something like it… I’m sure I do… if not, I have to get this! 😀

Ooh sorry for comment hogging, but I think I remember the colour I have that’s possibly similar. It’s from the Color Blast line by Orly, called Total Eclipse of the Heart:

It’s less green though.

Orly really make some gorgeous colors – I just don’t get enough of them! I haven’t tried that Color Blast line either (not sure I’ve even seen them in person, yet!). I have a newly-acquired vampy/possibly color-shifting Orly sitting on my desk that needs swatching, too!

I actually think the Color Blast polishes are gone now – they were at Rexall but I think they were being cleared out. I get my Orlys from Sally Beauty Supply. And I sometimes get the Quo by Orly polishes – they’re good but the colours are sometimes weird (the Quo ones).

This colour, Cabin Fever, and Gone Glamping remind me of those Sally Hansen Nail Prism colours that used to be available in the early 2000s (the whole ‘rainbow’ nail polish fad, not sure if SH had these released earlier or not). They had SOOOO many of these beetle/oil slick-esque shades!

Oooh, so beetle-tastic! Love it!

Yep! Remind me of a beetle also. Wow Chris! You’re such an impressive photographer to achieve all angels of color. My iridescent nail polish post is standing for so long now. I can’t capture the colors or my skills isn’t just good.

It can be difficult! I know that some polishes are definitely harder to capture than others. This one was actually pretty easy, for some reason 🙂

Hmmm, It’s more solid. Oh I don’t want to think because mine’s only a dollar. 😀 ooops! Sorry Poly, truth hurts but I still love you though!
