Collection: L’Oréal Fall 2012, Project Runway: Electric Fantasie

Back in 2012, L’Oréal released a collection in conjunction with Project Runway consisting of six pretty gorgeous-looking jewel-toned polishes in a revamped Colour Riche Nail Color product line. This line was initially called Pro Manicure, but sometime in 2011 or so, L’Oréal changed the name, the cap color (from white to gold), and possibly the formula to the current Colour Riche.

I own several from the original Pro Manicure line, and really like them. This is actually my first time trying the newer version. I’m pretty curious to see how the two stack up.

I found The Temptress’ Touch (691) at Dollarama for $3, and figured it was worth a try! It doesn’t actually say “Colour Riche” on it, just “Nail Color”, but I assume it’s from the Colour Riche line…the cap is just mirrored silver instead of matte gold. It’s a shimmery chartreuse-toned green that glows with golden iridescence, and it’s quite perfect for fall and Halloween.

The formula is semi-sheer, though it is just about opaque with two coats. I did prefer three coats for the swatch, just for extra coverage over a few bald spots. The polish applied quite smoothly and I didn’t have any real problems with it.

I found this polish to be pretty similar to the older Pro Manicure polishes I’ve tried: a thinner formula that applies smoothly, though they tend to require two thick coats or three thin ones to get that extra-nice color intensity. The brush is a little different, however: the newer Colour Riche polish has a slim, slightly-flattened brush rather than a rounded one.

Overall, I’m pleased with this unique shade and will aim to try a few more of the current L’Oréal Colour Riche polishes.

Colour Riche Nail Color is 0.39 US fl oz / 11.7 mL and retails for about US$4.99 / CA$6.99. The polish is free of toluene, formaldehyde, camphor, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP). It is made in the USA.

Its first product was a hair dye called Auréale, which presumably led to the development of the company’s present name.
