So, I’ve been completely smitten by Yves Rocher’s new line of Botanical Colour Nail Polish and I’ve taken advantage of their many sales and ordered even more colors. I mean, they end up coming in at around CA$3 a pop. What’s not to love?
Today, I’m reviewing Metallic Gold / Or métallisé (92), a light-to-midtoned gold frost. The gold is strongly yellow-toned, with a delicious butterscotch flavor: just the right balance of orange and brown in it. It reminds me of a lighter and more wearable version of Creative Nail Design’s (back before they went all modern with “CND”) Flounce, and oldie that I’ll have to swatch one of these Throwback Thursdays.
Application is perfectly smooth and even, which is excellent for a frost! You’ll want two coats for full opacity, and the look is really quite plush.
I’ll be the first to admit that this really doesn’t look so hot on me! I love it, but butterscotch isn’t my color, unfortunately. I’ll stick with butterscotch in my cakes and candies, thanks.
But, of course, now I’m dying to try the Metallic Silver!
A word about the brush: it is a wide paddle shape with a rounded end, and it makes application so, so easy, particularly if your nails are not teeny like mine are—but it still works well for me.
