I’m on a makeup low-buy, but this haul still stays within my month’s fun budget! It may look like a lot of product, but it was all on clearance and I ordered it from a site that’s very new to me.
A quick Googling of “toronto discount cosmetics” (I was trying to find out about a makeup warehouse I’d visited well over ten years ago) brought me to SaleEvent.ca (not affiliated), a local beauty warehouse that sells some of their products online. I figuratively jumped out of my seat with glee!
SaleEvent.ca has actual warehouse locations in Toronto, the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and Ottawa, but as I am without a car, I rarely venture off the subway line. Incidentally, I don’t think this was the same warehouse company I visited all those years ago: that store was downtown.

An additional visit to their Facebook page convinced me that that the site was legit, so I placed my first order. They offer free Canadian shipping on orders of $49+, and free US shipping on orders of $75+.
I browsed most of their online offerings, but obviously spent most of my time in the nail polish section! Most prices are decent, with a small selection of OPIs for $5, myriad Revlons for $3 (a good sale price at regular drugstores), a few magnetic Essies for $4 (which I’ve seen at Dollarama for $3), and Sinful Colors for $2.50 (which I’ve seen at No Frills for $2). I don’t know whether the online prices are a bit higher than the in-store prices, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that was the case: after all, somebody’s gotta do extra work to send me my stuff with free shipping!
I threw some OPIs (all from the 2013 San Francisco collection, of which I previously owned none), Revlon polishes, and a Milani lipstick I’ve been lemming (yay!) into my cart and hit submit. This was late on Thursday night, when I was obviously avoiding work by catching up on Empire and checking out discount makeup online.
SaleEvent.ca proceeded to pleasantly surprise me by shipping my order on Friday afternoon and emailing me a Canada Post tracking number. I received the parcel yesterday, did a skippy dance, and this morning I took some shots and wrote up this post!

Overall, I am really happy with my first shopping experience with SaleEvent.ca, and the products all look in great shape! The lipstick case is sealed, the polishes aren’t leaky or dried up, and everything is clean. My items were packaged well, and the company kept me updated via email during every step of the order process. If they update and hopefully expand their nail polish inventory, I’d definitely place more orders!
Have you ever shopped at SaleEvent.ca before, online or in-store? Are there any similar Canadian sites or stores that you like? Inquiring minds wanna know!
I’ve never heard of this site but I’m bookmarking it now! For 2016 haulage! Those Revlons with the cobwebs are so apropos! 🕷

It’s always nice to find a new place to shop! 😀 And LOL I didn’t even notice the cobwebs suit a Halloween-theme! I must have known, subconsciously, when I ordered. 😉 Right.

And gosh, that 50 polish for $50 would be a fun grab bag to see what they send! I hope they have that offer still on for next year, I’d totally do it.

I didn’t bother since I don’t like getting lots of dupes – it does seem like it’d be way fun, though 😀 If they did 20 for $20, I might have a crack at it…

And also, these Maybelline eye shadows are SUPERB!

I have Tasteful Taupe and Earthly Taupe and the quality rival that of Illamasqua mattes. I’m definitely getting the other 2 shades the site offers. 😀 You have no idea what a monster you’ve created! 😉

LOL I’m so surprised! I remember Maybelline Expert Eyes shadows being crappy, but that was a long time ago. I’ll definitely have to check them out, now. Has Maybelline upped their game overall? Their nude palette is always a bit tempting, hehehe.

I honestly think these particular ones were a fluke. In general Maybelline eye shadows are mucho crap. I saw a rave review on them a while back and decided to take a chance when they were on sale for like $3 – consider me impressed and surprised! I think the nude palette is sucky just based on swatching at the store. Not the same texture as these singles.

Ahh, OK, that makes sense now. 😀
I remember thinking that they’d improve when L’Oreal bought them (because I really liked the old L’Oreal singles and duos) but nope. I’ll be sure to check out the shades you rec’d, though. Can’t ever have enough taupe, right?
