Collection: OPI 2015 Winter, Starlight
I can hardly believe that it’s November, already! How has 2015 gone by so quickly? Surely, it’s time to pull out all the jewel-toned and vampy colors in preparation for winter. It’s a little tough to get into the moon—I mean mood—as it’s still going to be a bit warm in my city, this week. It’s not properly cold until I have to pull out my wool coat and tall boots!
Nevertheless, I know some of you guys want the summery oranges gone until Groundhog Day at the very earliest, so I recently picked up a polish from OPI’s Winter collection at Winners: I’m in the Moon for Love (HR G35). It’s a medium-deep reddish plum shimmer with a soft amethyst glow.

While it’s quite nicely balanced between warm and cool, making it a very flattering purple for many skintones, it isn’t terribly exciting. It’s a perfectly serviceable purple for the cooler season, but it’s just not rocking my socks off.
Application was reasonable: I used two coats for the swatch, though I’m still slightly bothered by a touch of the bald spots. It also seemed to give faint streaks, which is odd as it isn’t frosty by any means. I wonder if it just dried very quickly.
It doesn’t dry to the glossiest finish, either. I’d definitely go with three coats plus a shiny top coat for this one. Frankly, I’m a bit disappointed with OPI, here!
And now, I’m going to take a moment to mention a really gorgeous movie I was reminded of by the name of this polish: In the Mood for Love (2000).

Oh, and Moon (2009) was pretty good, too.

I love this multi-toned shade of purple, burgundy, berry and wine all combined together. What could be more better way to welcome this autumn season.

Glad you like it! I think it’s a pretty shade, but somehow it’s not inspiring me…

Sorry, this caused me so much yawning I almost forgot to leave a comment here. And what a terrible dull finish – it honestly looks like dollar store polish.

Yup, I kinda didn’t want to be mean, but ITA. If a Revlon looked like this, I’d be like, “meh”…but OPI? Come on, now. It’s a nice enough color but the finish was so disappointing.

I can definitely tell that it isn’t the glossiest on its own, which is weird for OPI. Your right, maybe a good topcoat would do the trick!
