Collection: China Glaze 2015 Summer, Desert Escape
Rose gold has been a very popular metallic shade for quite some time, now, and I’m thrilled that it’s remained a favorite. It’s my favorite metallic color and I absolutely love rose gold in jewelry and handbag hardware.
Rose gold the metal is actually made by combining gold and copper (which gives it that beautiful reddish hue) into an alloy. The more copper that is present, the redder the gold becomes. Rose gold is commonly 75% gold, almost 25% copper, with a smidge of silver.
I still rue the time, several years ago, that I didn’t splurge on a Rebecca Minkoff MAC in plum and rose gold:

Since that bag is pretty much gone forever, I’ve since picked up a Mini MAC in white & rose gold (which I love, but it’s just not quite the same), and also I’ve been looking for the perfect rose gold polish. After going through a few by Avon, butter LONDON, Deborah Lippmann, and Orly, I think I’ve finally found it in this China Glaze! It was released just this summer, which I find a bit curious as I think it suits the fall and winter seasons much better.
Meet Me in the Mirage (82648) is a monochromatic metallic rose gold, chock full of gorgeous microglitter. This rose gold is deeper, with a beige base and a strong copper tone, giving it a slightly “aged” look.
This polish is fully opaque with two coats, although I used three in my swatches (got my nails a little marked up after the second coat, oops!).
Application was a breeze with very little of the streaking that metallics and frosts tend to exhibit. The finish is perfection. It sparkles beautifully even in dim light.
I am pretty much in love with Meet Me in the Mirage, and will definitely be wearing it more during the holidays. It’s so festive and a more unusual choice than the standard red shimmers and green glitters!
China Glaze Nail Lacquer retails for US$7.50 and is 0.5 US fl oz / 14 mL. China Glaze nail polishes are free of toluene, added formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and are made in the USA.
China Glaze is part of American International Industries (who also own brands like Seche, EzFlow and Ardell), a private company based in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
Im usually not a fan of metallics but rose gold gets me every time.
