Collection: Deborah Lippmann 2015 Winter, Empire (TV tie-in)
Usual readers of my blog will know that I was a big fan of last season’s TV hit, Empire, an addictive musical drama about a music mogul family. I feel like this current second season has slacked off a little, storywise, but it’s still on my weekly watchlist!
Now, Deborah Lippmann has released an Empire collection that ties in with the series, and let’s just say these shades are exactly the kind of polishes Cookie would wear! The three shades come in a set of deluxe sizes (8 mL), and retails for US$24.
The three shades are:
- Hustle Hard (I’m sure this magenta shade is also a reference to Empire stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard co-starring in 2005’s Hustle & Flow)
- The Power of the Empire (gold glitter)
- The War of the Roses (red)
I don’t love the colours by themselves, but love the combo of them together 🙂

Yes! I can totally see that. They are a bit too blingy for my taste, but they look great as a whole.

That purple shade is gorgeous!
I really dislike Terrence Howard – he seems to be a crazy egomaniac:
In a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone, Howard explained that he had formulated his own language of logic, which he called Terryology, and which he was keeping secret until he had patented it. This logic language would be used to prove his contention that 1 x 1 = 2.
“How can it equal one?” he said. “If one times one equals one that means that two is of no value because one times itself has no effect. One times one equals two because the square root of four is two, so what’s the square root of two? Should be one, but we’re told it’s two, and that cannot be.”

I’ve heard even worse things about the guy – and yeah, I agree. He sounds awful as a person. Unfortunately, he’s really good as an actor. This is why I never like to learn about celebrities’ personal lives! :p Just ruins everything.
