This month’s Topbox is a fairly average one. It contains three items that I’ll use, but would not necessarily have gone out of my way to try, and one item that I am sick of receiving from subscription boxes (yep, another hairspray) but it won’t go to waste since my mom uses it.
What I Received
Regular Topbox
Prices are in CA$ unless otherwise specified.
- BeneFit Air Patrol (1.5 mL sample) [MSRP $38 for 4 mL]
- The Face Shop Character Mask in Brightening / Cotton (Puppy) (1 mask) [MSRP $9 for 3 masks]
- Nova Scotia Fisherman Xtreme Lip Care Lip Balm in Sea Salt & Caramel (9.9 g full size) [MSRP $6.95]
- Revlon Professional Style Masters Modular Hairspray (75 mL, sample) [MSRP $19.95 for 500 mL]
Extra
- Nova Scotia Fisherman online discount of 20% with code TOPBOX.
Everything came in an organza bag (ticking that option on their monthly survey finally worked!).
I don’t normally use eyeshadow primer, but I was thinking of trying one. Reasonably useful. I don’t think I’d ever pony up CA$38 for 4 mL (full size version) of eyeshadow primer, though. BeneFit’s pricing is incomprehensible to me. Urban Decay Primer Potion is CA$28 for 10 mL, by comparison.
I haven’t tried a mask from The Face Shop, so this is cool. One nice thing about getting Korean products sold in Canada is that they have English and French on the packaging! Finally, instructions I can read, hee!
What annoys me the most about receiving this product is that in the last monthly survey I took (these get pretty annoying to do, as well), they asked if I received a Nova Scotia Fisherman product in my last Topbox. (WHY do they not have this information already? Come on.) I answered “No”, but I had actually received an NSF in my second to last Topbox. Lo and behold, I get another NSF in this month’s Topbox. While I do like and use lip balm, this is just getting annoying. Why am I paying to get spammed by Cake Beauty and Nova Scotia Fisherman? All that said, Sea Salt & Caramel sounds really good!
This is what I wrote last month:
I’m thinking Topbox gets one more chance in November, and then I’ll decide whether to keep them or just stick with Luxe Box. (If I receive one more hair product, they’re goners, for sure. If the hair product is a hairspray, [deity] help them.)
My mother will be pleased about getting another free hairspray sample. Me, not so much.
Verdict
For $12 + tax ($13.56), I got some cool stuff to try, but nothing I’d have paid quite so much for, particularly the hairspray. To be fair, a 1.5 mL sample of the BeneFit primer is worth $14.25 if you consider the ludicrous MSRP for the full-sized item, but it’s not something I’d have bought, anyway.
And thus ends my Topbox subscription.
That is a great box! I received the same mask, loved it! my skin feels great and loved how the mask itself was a dog, too cute!

I receive this box as well, and was unhappy for the most part, I will only use 2 out of the 4 products (maybe)…I was thinking about cancelling last month as well, but am giving them a few more chances, I went and changed my beauty profile in hopes that I get some better items…time will tell.

Yeah, I totally agree! My Topbox sub started off well, but it’s really tapered off over the last few months. I hope yours gets better! 🙂 Thanks for visiting!

My life changed the day I discovered eyelid primer. It was Too Faced Shadow Insurance and my eye makeup game was complete. It was akin to the day I discovered quick dry topcoats.
But holy crap Benefit has balls to charge $38 for 4ml? Wow.
Never seen a character mask from Face Shop! Does this mean there’s an image of a puppy ON the mask itself? LMAO I need pics.

It’s really something I’ve been meaning to try forever! I guess I don’t usually have bad creasing issues (thanks, dry skin). Sometimes I use a Cream Colour Base, but that’s the closest I’ve gotten. I am looking forward to trying the BeneFit, though I don’t believe I’d ever buy the full-sized product. 😛
Haha that would be awesome if you put on the mask and it had a dog’s face. Somehow, I doubt it!

Umm for serious, they have animal faces on those sheet masks!
