Collection: Essie 2015 Spring, Resort
Essie describes Stones n’ Roses (899) as a “petal pink coral”. It reads a little bit more pink than peach to me, but it also depends on the lighting. Sometimes it goes more coral pink, and other times it looks more of a light salmon. Either way, it’s a really lovely, slightly pastel, peachy pink cream.
The name simultaneously recalls the bands Guns N’ Roses and The Stone Roses, though who knows what Essie was going for! I am also reminded of the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick I reviewed a few months ago, Stoned Rose.
The formula is not bad, considering the slightly pastel nature of the shade. It requires two coats, though you’ll also want to go a bit thicker with the second coat. The formula is a little prone to bald spotting, and a thicker coat mitigates that issue.
I love corals, so I am totally in love with this shade. It’s one of the prettiest coral shades I’ve seen in a while: neither overly pink nor too orange.
Essie Nail Polish retails for US$8.50 / CA$9.99–$10.99 and is 0.46 US fl oz / 13.5 mL. The polish is free of toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP). It is made in the USA.
Essie Cosmetics, founded in 1981, is based in Westfield NJ, USA. In 2010, Essie was acquired by the L’Oréal Group.
I LOVE the name and I love this colour! I didn’t even see this out at the stores. I think I have my blinders on for new nail polish collections this year. 😛 I hope it’ll be available next year…

I love the name, too! Also, it just occurred to me that the name could also reference The Rolling Stones…duh.
If you can’t find it in stores, TBBS and NPC are always a good bet.
