Clinique Bonus Time is awesome, in my opinion, especially when they’re offering it with an adorable makeup bag! This month, Hudson’s Bay is running a Clinique GWP with a makeup bag designed in conjunction with German/English graphic studio Kapitza. No, I never heard of them before, either—but their strong, colorful, graphic prints are right down my alley!
Check out the bag’s double-sided prints:
Now, I’m usually good at resisting the siren call of the GWP, but this time they were offering a deluxe-sized (read: smaller) Pop Lip Colour + Primer in one of two shades (Melon Pop and Love Pop), and I’ve been wanting to try that lipstick for months! So, this GWP was to be mine!
The GWP can be had with any CA$31 Clinique purchase, and what luck! The Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer, which I’ve also been eyeing ever since it was released last year, is CA$34. I picked up 7 Cream Chamois (VF-G), which I’d swatched in store and decided was a decent match for me—generally NC25-30 depending on the season, though I haven’t been colormatched at MAC in forever! (I remember being matched anywhere from NC20-NC35, so…who knows? I guess each product is different, too.)
Isn’t it weird, though, that this shade, 7 Cream Chamois, is coded as “VF-G”, which I assume means “Very Fair – Golden”? How on earth is that a very fair shade?! I think this was the lightest “golden” shade they had, too. And it’s not that light! Clinique are such weirdos. I’ve worn all kinds of strange foundation shade names from them, like “Ivory” and “Vanilla” and “Neutral”. WTH? On what planet is my skintone “Ivory”?! Anyway, I hope this works well for me. I haven’t had the best of luck with my skin lately, so I want a little extra coverage these days.
The 7-piece GWP contains:
- Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser (30 mL)
- Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ (30 mL)
- Smart Night Custom-Repair Moisturizer (15 mL)
- High Impact Mascara (3.5 mL)
- All About Shadow Trio, selected from Morning Java quad (1.9 g)
- Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Melon Pop (2.3 g)
- Kapitza cosmetics bag
Everything is made in the USA, except for the mascara and lipstick (both Canada) and the bag (China, duh!).
Here’s my favorite part of the GWP, the color makeup! I got the color selection “Soft Pop”, which comes with Melon Pop lipstick and a trio of eyeshadows selected from the Morning Java quad (Starstruck, At Dusk, & Black Honey). The lipstick is 2.3 g, so it’s a little over 60% of the size of the full-sized lipstick, which is 3.7 g.
And here are my three free beauty samples from Hudson’s Bay (I don’t know why I keep picking Roses de Chloé; I must have three or four of those samples by now, and I don’t even love it that much):
- Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector samples in light and deep shades
- Chloé Roses de Chloé edt sample
- Dior Sauvage edt sample
Hopefully I’m set for a while, makeup-wise. I’m not planning on doing much purchasing in the way of makeup and nail polish for some time, partly because I should finish/start using/swatch a lot of the stuff I already have, and mostly because the handbag bug has bitten me again! I actually have a new bag I’d love to show you all (Valentine’s Day/anniversary gift), but the handbag gods are temporarily uncooperative, and it hasn’t arrived yet. AAAAARGH. But at least I’ll have a story to tell…
