Essie Nail Polish in Sunshine State of Mind, swatch

Essie — Sunshine State of Mind (Nail Polish)

Collection: Essie 2016 Spring

Essie’s Spring 2016 collection contains six shades that are all creams: totally my bag! I made a trip down to my favorite beauty supply and snagged four shades: High Class Affair, Off Tropic, Poolside Service, and Sunshine State of Mind. I wanted badly to get a couple from the new Resort collection, as well (particularly Taj-Ma-Haul), but didn’t see it on display. Guess I’ll have to make another trip in the next couple of weeks.

Here’s my little haul (the middle four bottles are from the Spring 2016 collection):

Creams, wonderful creams!

Sunshine State of Mind (966), is described by Essie as a “blazing orange tangelo”. I am all about the oranges, to the point where I have to ask myself, “Hey. Do you really need another orange?” And then I looked at the crazy intensity of Sunshine State of Mind, in all its sultry red-orange glory, with a splash of hot Tabasco and a creamy coral undertone, and I said (again, to myself), “Why, yes! Yes, I do.”

Essie’s cream formulas in this collection are pretty awesome. Sunshine State of Mind applies beautifully and is fully opaque in two coats. If you like oranges, please do yourself a huge favor and get this! It’s absolutely perfect for spring and summer tips and toes.

  1. I want, I need! I’m not a fan of a stark orange on me, but this is right in between an orangey-red and I love those shades!
