I’m gonna come clean: I’ve literally never bought anything from Bath & Body Works until last weekend.
I feel like the strong scents of their hand creams, which seem to pop up in every handbag, turned me off for the longest while. I would, however, peek into the store now and then just to look at all the pretty candles and bottles!
Anyway, I had some time to kill at the mall and took my two year-old peanut for a spin at Bath & Body Works, which is very stroller-friendly. It was a bit weird how much he seemed to like the store—I don’t know if it was the music, the ambience, the cacophany of bright colors, the amalgam of so many fruit and floral scents, or possibly the presence of other children in strollers!)—but he was quite taken by the experience.
I was personally a bit overwhelmed, as usual, by the sheer volume of choice, but I took my time and ended up making my first ever purchase at Bath & Body Works. Fellow Canadian beauty blogger Stash Matters will be pleased to hear that a large part of my decision-making processes in this store is down to her! I won some delicious B&BW products from her not long ago, and she also turned me onto the B&BW Wallflowers plug-in room scents.
Upon entering the store, the first thing I gravitated to was the huge display of 3-wick scented candles, but I soon decided that I had enough candles as it was and moved on to the Wallflowers. I pondered getting the Pineapple or the Angelfish plug, but in the end decided on a Mosaic Bird design, which doesn’t appear to be sold on the B&BW website at the moment.
The deal was 4 fragrance refills for CA$22.50 (all prices hereafter in Canadian dollars) or 6 for $27-odd, so of course I went for 4 refills. I want a deal, but I don’t want to overcommit! Ha! I picked:
- Georgia Peach (peach, dewy leaves, vanilla)
- Honeysuckle (honeysuckle, peony)
- Honolulu Sun (coconut, palm, citrus)
- Tiki Beach (vanilla musk, orchid, coconut)
I would have gone for Lemon Mint Tea over Tiki Beach, but couldn’t find it!
Next, I picked up a few fun-sized items that were 3 for $12.50 (’cause I said I didn’t need more candles, remember?):
- Mini Scented Candle in Golden Pineapple Luau (pineapple, hibiscus, papaya)
- Mini Scented Candle in White Gardenia (gardenia, green & wood notes)
- Travel Size Shower Gel in Tiki Mango Mai Tai (mango, jasmine, grapefruit)
I did test some of the hand creams, but still found them not to my taste—somehow there’s an underlying scent to all of them that I don’t quite like.
By the cash register, obviously they have a lot of impulse buys, and I did get three of the little PocketBac scented hand sanitizers (3 for $5)—super-fun to give away, so I’m going to have to go back for more! Plus, it would be nice to have one of these for each handbag…
- Honolulu Sun
- Salted Pineapple Punch
- Sweet Strawberries & Cream
Finally, I also spotted this adorable silicon purse near the front of the store, and as a lemon fiend, I needed to get it! I mean, I probably have a use for a water-resistant zippy purse shaped like a lemon slice ($11), right?
Of course, my purchase came with a bunch of coupons, and I love coupons! I shall return!
