Collection: OPI 2015 Spring, Oh Baby
Not to be confused with the recently released and similarly-named OPI It’s a Boy! (NL T75), which has no shimmer, today’s swatch was released last year in a spring baby collection. (The pink from this collection, It’s a Girl! (NL H39), was an existing shade from a previous collection.)
I am expecting my second child this summer, and although she’s a girl, I thought It’s a Boy looked too pretty to pass up! Besides, I’m not much of a pastel pink person, and the whole pink for girls and blue for boys thing is a relatively new cultural phenomenon, anyway.
Besides, our little boy, now a toddler, has rarely worn baby blue. Most colors seem to look good on him as long as they’re not muted—he spent most of his babyhood in vibrant red, blue, green, orange, and amazingly, yellow, which is his best color! I’m so envious you would not believe!

Anyway, It’s a Boy (SR F91) is a sheer, light denim blue shot through with fine silver shimmer and microglitter. I got it in a “Together at Last” duo package at Winners—some of these colors are often labeled specifically for the TJ Maxx stores. I also suspect that some customers at Winners swap out the shades for ones they like, since the bottles are not actually attached to the packaging: they pop in and out very easily!
Disappointingly, the formula is really sheer. Like, I used four coats and it basically didn’t get any more opaque past three coats! How does that happen? My swatch shows four coats and it still looks semi-opaque. Oh well. It looks fine sheer, but I’d just like it better if it was opaque. I’ll just layer it over an opaque blue cream next time.

Haha I bet peanut looks awesome in yellow! He’s definitely a primary colour type of kid – no muted shades for him!
And oh yeah for sure people swap out the colours in thos duos! It’s always the weird colours leftover. 😛
Hmm this shade looks like it’re more of a topper than a stand alone shade. It’s pretty though. The real question is: do you have the shade “It’s a Girl!”?

It’s really funny when you see poopy brown/green shades left in those OPI duos XD
And no, I don’t have It’s a Girl!

I love reading all of your posts, but I have to ask…Just how often do you spend painting your nails?! And how many days do you leave a color on before you change it for your next post? Haha, just stuff I think about every time I read your blog. Love it, keep up the great work! ❤

Aw thank you! But I generally swatch in batches 😀 Nowadays, due to having a toddler to look after, nail polish doesn’t stay long on my nails and so I don’t always have them polished 😦 When I do, I tend to leave them on for 3-5 days. 😀 Right now they’re bare but I have Chanel Gitane on toes!

I love the sheer, shimmery finish of the nail shade and the hue is similar to Cinderella’s footwear. Have an awesome week ahead dear.

Despite how sheer this is, I love the colour! Sometimes it’s kind nice to have a polish that’s not so intense!
I may have said this before but I’m so jealous at how perfectly your nails turn out every.single.time. My left hand usually looks pretty good but my right hand is a kind of embarrassing… 😉

Haha, thank you! You’re much too kind. My swatches are always done on my left hand, since I need to use my dominant right to take the photo 😀 So rest assured that my right hand generally looks a bit messier!!! Practice makes perfect, though, it really does with nail polish!
