Jenna Hipp Essential Nail & Hand Cream Trio

Haulage! Winners & HomeSense (April–May 15, 2016)

I know it’s only halfway through May, but I felt like doing another roundup of my Winners & HomeSense finds for the last month and a half. (See January–February here, then March here (well, in all of those Haulage Week posts!)

My husband, who follows these things, informed me this week that sales at existing TJ Maxx stores in Canada (that’s Winners, Marshalls and HomeSense) have gone up something like 14%! I think that’s over the last quarter…or year? Anyway, it’s gone up! I suppose I’m just doing my part for the stock price, right? And TJ Maxx has been doing better in Canada than it has been in, say, the UK (where it’s TK Maxx) and Australia.

Anyway, here’s the haulage:

Cargo Lip Gel Color Kit
Cargo Lip Gel Color Kit [CA$19.99]
This 4-pack of full-sized lipsticks was a little too well-priced for me to pass up! I gave two away (Amore and Bella) and kept Dolce and Felice for myself. I normally don’t care for lipstick tubes made of cardboard (yeah, you, old school Stila!), but these sure are purty. Made in China. MSRP US$25, though it’s currently on the website for US$15.

Naked Canvas has a subtle pink iridescence! Made in USA.
HomeSense dishes by Rosenthal Sunny Day Fruit & Cereal Bowls in Pastel Green, Mikasa, random Japanese bowl
We use bowls a lot in our household! A few of our old Corelle bowls have recently been broken, so that was my excuse to head to HomeSense for superior replacements. I’m a sucker for pretty porcelain dishes, so I end up with a lot of mismatched dishes in my kitchen. Sometimes I dream about having neatly matched sets…but that’s not very me!

Rosenthal Sunny Day Fruit & Cereal Bowls in Pastel Green; Mikasa white soup/cereal bowls in an unknown pattern; random made-in-Japan bowl.

I love the little Japanese dishes I find at HomeSense at random times; I’ve added this black/red patterned bowl to about 5–6 others of identical shape and size that I already have in a variety of patterns and colors. [CA$4.99]

The green dishes are by German company Rosenthal [CA$3.99 ea.] and the white fluted style are American brand Mikasa [CA$5.99 ea.]. For reference, the Rosenthal bowls are 4.75″ wide.

Kate Spade Grosgrain Stripe Kitchen Towel in Blue
Kate Spade Grosgrain Stripe Kitchen Towel in Blue (2 pc) [CA$12.99]
I love Kate Spade housewares—particularly the colorful, graphical designs (less so the cutesy, cartoony ones). I found these 100% cotton kitchen towels in 2-packs for $12.99; at Bed, Bath & Beyond Canada they’re $12.99 for one! Our usual kitchen towels are white waffled ones from Williams-Sonoma, but they’re getting a bit tired (though they still work fantastically well) and I felt like a pop of color.

Valcena Multi Active Régénérative Night Cream
Valcena Multi Active Régénérative Night Cream.
Never heard of this brand before, but the product looked nice! I’m a sucker for rose, too. And the expiry date is in 2019! Made in Bulgaria. [CA$12.99]
Havianas Slim Flip Flops in Ice Blue
Havianas Slim Flip Flops in Ice Blue.
These don’t say slim on the sole embossing for some reason, but it says “Slim” on the tag. Surprised they fit my wide duck feet, which are only getting wider with each pregnancy! I’m going to pack these for the hospital. Last time I used a cheap pair of Old Navy flip flops, but I’m not sure if I can find them again. On the other hand, if I find the Old Navys, maybe I should bring those. If they get all gross during L&D, I can just toss them. Made in Brazil. MSRP CA$32. [CA$16.99]
Jenna Hipp Essential Nail & Hand Creams
Jenna Hipp Essential Nail & Hand Creams.
This nail & hand brand is new to me, but I was drawn by the packaging and purchased one tube. I liked it so much that I went back and picked up a whole set! Unfortunately, they’re not different scents, just different packaging. There actually is minimal fragrance to these creams. The product contains 20% shea butter and various essential oils. Regular price for the set of three is US$36. Made in USA. [CA$6.99 a tube]
Cake Beauty Supreme Body Mousse, HiVolume, in Lemon Chiffon
Cake Beauty Supreme Body Mousse, HiVolume (1L), in Lemon Chiffon.
I found it!! Stash Matters mentioned she liked the Cake Beauty scent Lemon Chiffon, and I finally saw it at Winners. One lonely, HiVolume bottle containing 1L of lemony product is now mine. Retail price: CA$55 (say wha?!). [CA$12.99]

Tilley Australia Scented Soy Candle in Pink Lychee
Tilley Australia Scented Soy Candle in Pink Lychee.
Suddenly, I’ve got lychee-scented products coming out the wazoo. This candle feels really luxe and smells amazing!! Retail price: AUD$19.95. [CA$9.99]

I also got a cute summer hat, and some clothes and a toy for the peanut at Marshalls (my mom insisted on picking up the tab for this trip).

Have you found any Winners/Marshalls/TJ Maxx deals, lately?

  1. Yay, I’m so glad you got your hands on the Lemon Chiffon! It’s so lovely and that bottle will last you month!
Wow you found Mikasa bowls at HomeSense? That’s amazing. I love the mismatchy-ness of Japanese dishes. One day I will
And I love Havianas flip flops – soooo cushy!
That Valcena night cream looks interesting – I hope it’ll agree with your skin!
I’ve been finding some amazing stuff at Winners / Marshalls. I’ll post my haul when I’m back… I think my May and June budgets are blown!

    • LOL I just remembered I forgot to add the lychee candle I got…fixed now. Of course, now I have loads of lychee stuff.

Yes, I see Mikasa dishes at HomeSense all the time! Sometimes they even have what look like full sets.

I tried the Valcena cream (just on my forehead) last night – no adverse reactions, so I’ll give it a go for the next week or so. Feels nice so far.

You’re gonna have major haulage to post after your trip!
