Back in March, one of my favorite beauty bloggers, Rachael of Helpless Whilst Drying (as a nail polish addict, I’ve gotta love that blog name!) celebrated her 2-year blogiversary and held a fantastic giveaway! I was one of the lucky runners-up and of course, I selected a Lottie London nail polish as my prize.
As it turned out, Rachael is in the UK and the Royal Mail apparently updated their international mail prohibited list to include nail polish! I felt quite awful that Rachael had spent so much effort just finding the nail color I’d requested, only to be told that she couldn’t mail it overseas to Canada, so we did what any beauty-product lovers would do: We decided to have a swap!
We set a budget (about GBP£33/CAD$60), exchanged some ideas of what we’d like from the other country, and off we went shopping! I had loads of fun shopping for Rachael’s goodies! It’s been ages since I’ve done an international swap—those are always the best to me, since I love trying out brands from other countries.
But, of course, even more fun was receiving my parcel from Rachael! I think we were blessed by the swap gods or something, because both of us received our parcels very quickly. I don’t think it took much over a week. Well done, Royal Mail and Canada Post! I guess we were also lucky that nothing got held up in customs, as well.
Without further ado, here’s the haulage!
Peeking inside the parcel:
Here’s the giveaway portion. Now, keep in mind, I was only supposed to get the nail polish:
But Rachael sent all of this as part of my prize, instead:
- Barry M Dazzle Dust in Chocolate
- Freedom Pro Highlight in Diffused
- Freedom Pro Lipstick in Born With It
- Lottie London Nail Polish in Guru
- Makeup Revolution Redemption Eyeshadow Palette in Iconic 2
- Makeup Revolution Powder Blush in Treat
- cute makeup bag
The nail polish is even prettier in person (I love that packaging! So glad Rachael snuck this in!) and the makeup colors she picked are all right down my alley:
Barry M Dazzle Dust in Chocolate, a deep and rich chocolate brown loose powder:
Freedom Pro Highlight in Diffused:
Freedom Pro Lipstick in Born With It, a bright raspberry red:
Lottie London Nail Polish in Guru (whoa, I love this!):
Makeup Revolution Redemption Eyeshadow Palette in Iconic 2, a gorgeous neutral palette with 12 shades:
Makeup Revolution Powder Blush in Treat, a perfect summery peach:
The main swap included several more of Rachael’s favorite products, plus a number of products that are popular in the UK!
- Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer in Warm Medium (3)
- Fleur de Force Lip Gloss in Starry Starry Night
- GOSH Velvet Touch Lipstick in Raspberry (Matt)
- Lee Stafford CoCo LoCo Blow & Go Genius Lotion
- Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette in Fortune Favours the Brave
- Natural Collection (Boots) Moisture Shine Lipstick in Raspberry
- Seventeen (Boots) Define & Conquer Contour Kit in Medium
- Seventeen (Boots) Doll’d Up Mascara in Black
- W7 Nail Polish in Damson
- W7 The Naughty Nine in Mid Summer Nights
Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer in Warm Medium (3). Rachael says this is super-popular over in the UK—I can’t wait to give it a spin! The color looks like just about a perfect match for me, too:
Fleur de Force Lip Gloss in Starry Starry Night. Weird name for this pretty berry color! Never heard of this brand before, but the packaging is sweet.
GOSH Velvet Touch Lipstick in Raspberry (Matt). We do get some GOSH products over here (they’re a Danish brand), but I’ve honestly never bothered to check out their makeup offerings—just the nail polish. Hahaha! This is another lovely raspberry red shade.
Lee Stafford CoCo LoCo Blow & Go Genius Lotion is one of Rachael’s faves so it’s gotta be good stuff! Mmmm…coconut.
Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette in Fortune Favours the Brave, designed in collaboration with British Beauty Blogger. This is the jewel of the swap, am I right?! I think I just about passed out when I saw how many shades are in this palette. It includes regular pressed shadows and some baked shadows.
Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick in Raspberry. A cute pinked-red cream lippie. I do love my reds!
Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit in Medium. Being honest, I’ve never contoured before! Will have to experiment. Thank goodness it comes with instructions.
Seventeen Doll’d Up Mascara in Black. We get some Boots products over here, but I think just the No7 skincare line. No fun makeup like their Seventeen or Natural Collection lines.
W7 Nail Polish in Damson. She snuck in another one! I see W7 stuff here at Winners, occasionally, but never the nail polish. This is a pretty, bright purple cream.
W7 The Naughty Nine in Mid Summer Nights. I haven’t seen this line of palettes at Winners, either! These rosy shades are lovely.
And, finally, Rachael also included a fun selection of British candy! UK candy is the best. (I actually had a hard time trying to find candy to send over to her, since most of our candy in Canada/USA isn’t as interesting or is already available in the UK.) I haven’t tried any of this candy, yet, due to my GDM, but as soon as that’s all done, it’s all gonna end up in mah belly.
As you can see, I pretty much made out like a bandit in this Giveaway & Swap. I haven’t had the chance to play with everything, yet, but you can be sure that the Lottie polish, the Seventeen mascara, the Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palettes, and the lipsticks are going to get runs out this week.
Many thanks to Rachael for this fabulous swap and most generous giveaway!
(P.S. If you’re interested in what Rachael got from me on her end, she already posted it here!)
