As I’ve mentioned recently, I’m in the market for a camera bag! The Gucci Soho Disco was top of my list, and I was considering the new Marc Jacobs Shutter—until I opened up a J.Crew email yesterday and saw these pretties!
They’re called Signet Bags and they come in both colorful leather (US$128/CA$168) and colorblocked (like some of the Soho Discos) leopard calfhair options (US$298/CA$358).
Here are the calfhair bags in Leopard and Bright Ruby:
In the Canadian online store, there are only four color options so far for the plain leather: Black, Deep Pewter (backordered), Dark Wine, and Roasted Chestnut. No Festival Red, Cobalt Sea, or mustard yellow (not available on the US site, either) like in the featured image above.
Each bag is monogrammable (online and US-only, boo) and comes with a contrasting, monogrammable key fob. J.Crew also sells the Key Fobs ($US12/CA$16) separately, along with monogrammable Bag Tags (US$7.50/CA$9.50) and Coin Pouches (US$29.50/CA$38.50 for leather, US$49.50/$64.50 for calf hair) that you can use to customize the look of your Signet Bag—or, indeed, any other bag you like.
And yes, the bag strap is adjustable!
Today, J.Crew Canada sent out a coupon code STARTSHOPPING for 25% off and free shipping today only (September 23, 2016). I thought that made the bag a great deal and hopped on to purchase one.
It turns out the coupon excludes handbags (le sigh), but I ordered the Roasted Chestnut, anyway:
I figure I save by not buying the CA$1170 Gucci bag, right? Ha! But seriously, I think the Gucci is off my wishlist, now. I was always slightly iffy on the large stitched logo, so if the J.Crew Signet bag is of good quality, my camera bag purchasing will be happily complete.
I didn’t have to contemplate long on which color I wanted, thanks to Canada having a reduced selection (I haven’t checked my J.Crew store in the mall for additional colors, though). It was between the Roasted Chestnut and the gorgeous Dark Wine, which is just perfect for Fall/Winter:
But I went with the Roasted Chestnut for year-round and wardrobe versatility. The only feature that gave me pause was the white stitching on the edges and around the zipper, but hopefully it won’t look bad in person.
I’ll be doing a review of this bag once I receive it and use it for a while. In the meantime, enjoy the J.Crew code and let me know what you get!
Will you be using a camera bag this season?
And here are the remaining colors I didn’t post above, in Black (love the contrasting white snakeprint fob) and Deep Pewter:
Finally, here are three other bag designs from J.Crew that go swimmingly with their customizable bag tags, fobs and pouches. They come in other colorways than these, of course!
