Review of Valcena Hydra Nourrissant Body Lotion
I was a bit skeptical of this product at first, merely because it calls itself a lotion. My skin is quite dry, particularly now that it’s winter here in Canada, and lotions generally don’t cut it at all! Even in summer, I usually stick with thicker body creams, since I usually find that light lotions do almost nothing for my skin.
Hydra Nourrissant Body Lotion turned out to be quite a nice surprise!
This body lotion is packaged in a standard white plastic squeeze tube. It’s quite sturdy and the tube has a vaguely pliant and rubbery feel to it that I quite like.
Since Valcena’s products all seem to contain rose extract and/or rose oil, this serum smells wonderful to this rose lover! It is well-scented, so the very sensitive-skinned should probably stay away, but I love scented products so this is just perfect for me! Valcena’s rose scent is a heavier rose, with a touch of lipstick about it, but it also has a watery aspect to it that reads as a dewy rose.
The texture is really lovely, even a bit bouncy. It’s not as much a lotion as it is a gel-cream. This opaque white lotion feels just thick enough to be moisturizing, but not so thick that it’s like a greasy body cream. It also has just the right amount of slip that it applies quickly. Honestly, if I had to design the perfect body lotion texture for myself, this would be it. I hate watery lotions and balms that take forever to rub into the skin!
I used this lotion quite often in the fall, and found that it worked quite well, even on my dry legs (my shins are just forever flaky and dry).
The only drawback to this product is that I find it gets used up pretty quickly. It’s possible that I just like the feel of it so much that I squeeze out more than I need! But it does sink into the skin easily and moisturizes well without leaving a greasy film.
I’m very picky with my body lotions due to having such dry skin, but I would definitely repurchase this product since it works well for me in non-winter months. (Even if it doesn’t work as well in cold weather, I have yet to find anything that does!) The pretty rose scent is a bonus! I really hope this product starts popping up at my Winners, because I think I’ll be using up this tube very soon.

Valcena Hydra Nourrissant Body Lotion comes in a 200 mL tube. I do not know the official MSRP, but I have seen Valcena’s face creams retailing online for approximately GBP£22. I personally have found and purchased several Valcena skincare products at Winners (TJ Maxx/Marshalls) for CA$12.99. I’m not sure where this product is made, but I am guessing Bulgaria, since my Valcena face creams had that stickers on the wrappers (the press samples didn’t come with wrappers).
Valcena Paris was launched in 2010 and is based in Paris, France. The brand’s skincare products revolve around Damascena rose essence from the Balkan valley. The company’s products are free of parabens, preservatives, and added coloring. Valcena is cruelty-free.
