Haulage! The Body Shop Post-Holiday Sale (January 2017)

I’ve been AWOL for a while! Apologies—I’m sure we’ve all been terribly busy with the start of the new year, and it’s been the same for me.

Here’s a quick post to remind you all that The Body Shop has clearanced their holiday products and (I presume) newly discontinued items, and the sales are pretty good! I know I like to complain about their products, as quite a lot I’ve tried aren’t all that great, but damn it’s hard to beat a good sale, isn’t it? And, they do have some gems here and there.

I placed two orders, one yesterday and another today when they reduced some prices even more. Plus, I have the Love Your Body 10% discount, which expires in May, so I should take advantage of it as much as I can. I don’t expect to renew the card this year.

Here’s the combined haulage:

Vanilla Chai Body Butter, Body Scrub, & Lip Balm

Vanilla Chai is a holiday limited edition scent, and I love it! This smells to me like a sweet chai with loads of vanilla. I don’t really get the eggnog vibe that some people are talking about—I definitely get chai. I know this because last year, I ordered the Body Butter, then totally forgot what scent I ordered when I slathered it on. I instantly thought, “This smells like sweet chai!” and not, “Mmm, eggnog.” And I love eggnog. A scent for next Christmas, perhaps?

I don’t like the Lip Butters I’ve tried; hopefully this one will be better since it is called Lip Balm and comes in a tin. At least I know I’ll like the scent!

Virgin Mojito Deluxe Gift Set

Virgin Mojito is a limited edition scent, probably from last summer or maybe even a summer before. I haven’t smelled it, but it sounds fab, right?

Burn Notice. It really grew on me. Bruce Campbell. Sharon Gless (Cagney!).
Gotta get past Gabrielle Anwar’s painful Irish accent in the first few eps.

It comes with full sizes of the Virgin Mojito Body Butter, Body Scrub, Body Splash, and Shower Gel, plus a bath lily and an ice bucket. It was marked down from CA$60 to $30, which is what I paid, though it looks like it went down to 70% off until it sold out pretty quickly.

Colour Crush Nail Polish

These are great little polishes, marked down from CA$8 to $2. Wish it didn’t look like they were discontinuing the line. I only picked up Got the Blues and Just Peachy, seeing as I already have most of the others available.

Colour Crush Eye Shadow

I haven’t tried these before, but some were marked down from CA$11 to $5, and I liked the two shimmery shades—Gold Rosemance and Golden Cinnamon—available at this price.

English Dawn Gardenia & Italian Summer Fig Eaux de Toilette

These 50 mL perfumes were CA$25, and now they’re $7.50. No brainer! Aren’t the bottles adorable? They look like little greenhouses—or igloos. I have Fijian Water Lotus, and but in the tall older bottle, which isn’t quite so cute.

I got the matching Body Creams, too ($6.30 down from $21). Not sure how they quite differ from the Body Butters. I expect these will be a bit less thick.

I also filled up the rest of my orders with bar soaps and shower gels that were on sale. Not quite as exciting! The Honeymania soap is nice to look at, though:

The sale continues at The Body Shop, so Happy hauling!

  1. I tested the Vanilla Chai at the store yesterday and wasn’t feeling it. And I think I know why now – I HATE eggnog! GAG The scent was the nicest in the body butter so I ended up getting a mini one of that, in a set of trio with the other 2 holiday scents.
I picked up 1 of the polishes – I asked the girl if they were being discontinued and she said no with a straight face… so who knows. Maybe just getting rid of the current colours? I picked up the shade “The Body Shop Green” which I mainly got because of the name. 😛
Those perfume bottles totally look like igloos, especially the blue one. I did pick up the Honeymania perfume, for $8. Total impulse.
You got lots of good stuff! I’ve hit up so many places and already stocked up on a bunch of stuff from BBW so I’m a bit shopped out, to be honest.

    • Ohh eggnog is one of the things I look forward to most every holiday season!! 🙂 I can see why you didn’t like Vanilla Chai if you don’t like eggnog, though. It’s close enough, for sure. Do you like chai, though? That’s the real question!

Haha, Body Shop Green was actually the first ever TBS polish I picked up! It’s really pretty. Don’t know why I haven’t swatched it for the blog. I hope that SA is right and they’re just revamping the polish line, or something. TBS hasn’t responded to my inquiries.

I’ve not done too much shopping since Christmas – all shopped out here, as well.

  2. Dang, I got that Virgin Mojito set on sale during the summer, I should have waited for the price to come down even more! I guess I was afraid they would run out.

I might need to try those polishes, I hope they don’t discontinue them! Have you tried their polish remover?

    • I ordered the set the first day and it was $30. Then the next morning it was all sold out, but the price was set to $16 or something! A real steal if anyone snagged it at that price. You never can tell if they will run out :/

I did get the TBS polish remover recently, but have yet to try it! 🙂

      • Ah, so it was probably good that I grabbed it while I could. Missing out on a lime scent would have made me cry 😛

I quite like the polish remover, it smells strongly and funky, but it doesn’t dry your skin/nails out at all. I would use it for swatching sessions if it weren’t so expensive for such a teeny bottle.

  4. Sam would definitely approve! I so approve of the Burn Notice/Bruce Campbell reference – he’s one hot piece of crazy ass. I’m not into mega gore any more (if I ever was) so I’m not watching it, but my husband really loves the new Evil Dead show.

    • We started watching Ash vs Evil Dead last year but kind of stopped, for some reason. It was good, though!

I haven’t seen too many Sam Raimi movies, but the ones I have, I generally love 🙂
