Collection: L.A. Girl 2016 Gel Extreme Shine [Launch]
As I mentioned on Friday, I bought some new L.A. Girl polish that had recently popped up at Wal-Mart Canada. Here’s one from their newer gel-like line, since that craze clearly hasn’t ended, yet.
Genesis (GNL656) is a vibrant, deep violet cream.

This line of polish runs just a little pricier than the regular ColorPop line—I paid C$4.99 for Gel Extreme Shine and C$2.99 for ColorPop, though I believe the US difference is just $1. I think the difference is probably worth it, though.
The Gel Extreme Shine brush is superior because it’s nicely thick, flexible and paddle-shaped. The ColorPop brush (I know I forgot to mention this in my review!) is also flat but thinner, sparser, shorter, and has a straight-cut edge.
The formula is actually pretty decent, application-wise. It goes on nice and smooth and has that gel-like “pull” to it instead of just being very liquid-y. The pigmentation could be improved, as I did need three coats for full opacity.

Pretty though, right? I’m not sure I’ll buy any more for now, since the color selection is a bit boring. But I’ll be tempted if they come out with any funky new shades!

L.A. Girl Gel Extreme Shine is 0.47 fl oz / 14 mL and retails for US$5, although I’m sure it can be found cheaper in stores. I paid CA$4.99 at Wal-Mart. I do not see formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), camphor, or formaldehyde resin in the ingredient list. It is made in China and the brand is cruelty-free.
L.A. Girl is owned by Beauty 21 Cosmetics, who also own similar brand L.A. Colors. The L.A. Girl brand and its parent company were founded in 1985. Beauty 21 is based in Ontario, CA, USA.
I love this shade of purple! It reminds me very much of my wedding colour palette! I don’t think we can get the LA Girl polishes here as they’re only sold in one place online

I am, I’m planning on having them Gelled with a tonne of mermaid glitter, but the bridesmaids have said they want to wear purple nails so need to find them the ‘right’ purple!

Nope, been concentrating on getting my invites done. Can now concentrate on the important stuff – Nail polish.

Dude. Nail polish > flowers and music and dress and stuff. Geez. I’m disappointed in you. 😉

It’s surprisingly chic! I didn’t think it looked quite as nice in the bottle.

I’m sorry I don’t ever comment on your nail polish posts. I tried once! It was the Maybelline Colorshow I believe and I hated every second of it! I was a complete klutz and knocked it everywhere and it chipped and became all icky. I even scraped it every time I opened a makeup case! Disaster!!!

LOL! I have a Maybelline ColorShow (or two?) and I agree with ya – they’re not very good. And ugh, spilling nail polish is the worst!!!

This looks pretty good for the price. Too bad about the colour selection though.

It’s a reasonable drugstore line – I just wouldn’t go out of my way for it! I do look forward to trying other makeup items from them, though.

I always see L.A. Girl at the drugstore, but have never tried them. This color might just convince me though, it’s bright yet flattering.
