Colors by Llarowe — Shiny Happy People (Nail Polish) Swatch & Review

Happy International Women’s Day!

Just for a little background, International Women’s Day was originally observed as International Working Women’s Day in New York City, 1909. In 1917, women textile workers in Petrograd demonstrated on the day, marking the start of the Russian Revolution. Upon the revolution’s end, the new government granted Russian women the right to vote.

The United Nations officially adopted the observance in 1975. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”.

Now, I feel a bit funny celebrating the day with something as relatively trifling as a nail polish swatch, but this is a nail polish blog, after all!

Collection: Colors by Llarowe 2016 Summer

I’ve been trying to pick up more indie brands lately (though I’ve been somewhat foiled by beginning to avoid ecommerce platform Shopify) and Colors by Llarowe is one of the latest brands I’ve tried.

Shiny Happy People (named for a great R.E.M. song) is a periwinkle with an explosion of holo shimmer.

The formula is pretty great: it applies smoothly and is fully opaque with two coats.

Here it is in sunlight:

As far as holos go, this polish is very nice. If you see a shade you like in Colors by Llarowe, I’d say go for it! I definitely hope to try more in the near future. I think Llarowe.com might be seeing a new customer soon, ha!

  1. I personally think IWD is the perfect day to talk about nail polish! 😉
And what a great name (and song) for this polish! Very shiny and happy colour. I just went back to your post on Color Club Crystal Baller and it looks like the holo is even stronger in the Color Club! This base colour is super pretty though.

    • YES I think the Color Club is even blingier. The holo looks better in the CC, too. I need more Halo Hues! But the CbL is still pretty in its own right.

  2. I love that you followed up that beautiful periwinkle Color Club holo with another periwinkle toned holo! Be still my heart! Does this one have more purple in it than Crystal Baller?
