Finally, everyone in the household is on the road to recovery! I managed to stay relatively illness-free, except for once when I think I might have given myself food poisoning and had an upset stomach for a night. We were all so overwhelmed over the last week and a half that my husband actually had to remind me that we forgot about our 17th wedding anniversary over the weekend.
I should really get my computer to remind me about stuff like this.
So, we celebrated last night with some dinner delivered and half a movie (The Nice Guys, if you’re interested—and that’s how we have to roll nowadays, early to bed). Plus, we’ll add a li’l anniversary money to our fun budgets!
Speaking of fun budgets, here’s some stuff I hauled over the last couple of months from drugstores. And I’m including some stuff I got from Cosmetic Love late last year, but totally forgot about under my desk.
All prices are what I paid, not necessarily the MSRP.

Photos and comments:
A’Pieu

Cosmetic Love always sends a bunch of skincare samples. Sometimes it’s a few, like in this picture. Sometimes I get a massive handful of samples. I don’t think I’ll ever, ever need to buy Innisfree’s green tea serum or TonyMoly’s tomato mask in my life. It was nice to see a new sample from A’Pieu in my last order!
Banila Co.

Isn’t the packaging on this Korean lipstick pretty?
Bee By the Sea

Whenever Well.ca runs a promotion on fancy lip balms, I usually like to try one!
Bulgari

25 mL Purse Spray [CA$19.99]
butter LONDON

This was being clearanced, so I went for it, of course!
It contains 6 mini (3 mL) lacquers in the following colors: Swinging London, Beezer, Wine Gums, Hot Totty, Come to Bed Red, & Figgy Pudding.
Cargo

Cargo is being clearanced at 50% off at Well.ca, so I grabbed these three concealer/foundation products. I’ve only tried Cargo’s lipsticks, eyeshadow, and blush before, so I look forward to trying these! (On the other hand, they’re not cheap and Cargo might be moving out of Canada, so maybe I don’t want to like them too much…)
Cerave

I love this stuff for babies. It’s a very nice, simple moisturizer.
CoverGirl

Oil Free Foundation in Medium Beige (210) [CA$5.99]
I swatched this not long ago, and when it went on sale last week, I picked it up.
Crawford Street

I’ve tried a couple of wonderful-smelling products from this Toronto-based company, and I’ve really liked them. I hope this cleanser will make it three wins in a row!
Essence

I am normally not into matte-finish polishes at all, but something about this polish looked so plush and chewy that it found itself in my shopping cart.
Etude House

I’ve used the other Etude House Mascara Fixer, Super Long Lash, and it works great as an undercoat for my stick-straight lashes. However, it also has those little annoying fibers for lengthening, so the Perfect Lash version be better.
Gosh

My Shoppers always has random Gosh and Quo by Orly makeup on clearance, so I like to take a peek just in case there’s anything interesting.
Green Beaver

Peanut, who is almost three, is still using fluoride-free toothpaste since he can’t be trusted to not eat too much of it. I haven’t liked the fluoride-free toothpastes we’ve used up to now, since they’re all fruit-flavored (though Peanut loves the cartoon characters on the tubes!). I’d rather he got used to minty toothpaste and realizing that toothpaste isn’t meant to be yummy like candy. He’s getting good about spitting out the toothpaste, though, so I think we can probably move to a fluoride toothpaste soon. For now, I hope this mint toothpaste works out well. I kind of want to give this toothpaste a try, myself, since I find that a lot of toothpastes nowadays—particularly the ones that claim to whiten, which is almost all of them—contain something to which I’m slightly allergic.
Innisfree

I always get loads of samples of this particular Innisfree serum from Cosmetic Love. Each packet gives me two uses, as well.
It’s Skin

I don’t know what makes this a holiday edition apart from the themed box this came in. Either way, I’ve wanted one of these cute macaron lip balms for a while! The Green Apple scent is nice, though I’d have loved it if the light green lip balm’s scent was Honeydew, instead!
L.A. Girl

L’Oréal

I actually ordered four other L’Oréal l’Huile polishes (Cherie Macaron, Rubis Folis, Vert Absynthe, and Violet de Nuit), but they were temporarily out-of-stock and canceled the orders. The shades are all back in stock now, but of course they are also no longer on sale. I’ll just wait for a Shoppers Drug Mart sale. Maybe they’ll have more of the new shades in, too.

I swatched this the other day and liked the foundation’s texture. I’m a little sad that more drugstore foundations seem to be using plastic squeeze tubes, now. I always prefer glass bottles, especially those with pump dispensers. This L’Oréal costed me almost 3x more than the CoverGirl I bought (pictured below), too—both on sale—and they have similar packaging.
Lioele

I mistakenly stuck this into the photo, even though I got it in Nov 2015 (hehe), so thought I’d mention it.
Lioele Dollish Cera-V CC Cream [US$15.25]
Mizon

Revlon

The one on the right, Buff (150) with no SPF, is what I used to wear years ago. The one on the left is a new version with SPF 20 and it comes in a pump; I got it in Nude (200) for tanner summer skin. I did always find Buff (150) a little too light for me, as well, so it needed some tinted powder on top to look less chalky.

Dammit! I thought it was supposed to be on sale for $4.99, but looks like this shade didn’t ring up correctly. I was buying a lot of items at Shoppers and it just slipped my mind. Gah! I really need to remember to check my receipt before I leave the store, and not a week later. I can’t believe I paid that much for a regular Revlon polish.

Revlon lipsticks went on sale and I had to take a peek to see if there were any new shades available. Lo and behold, Love Is On was denoted with a “NEW” logo and I picked it up. It comes in special packaging and is apparently Revlon’s “universally flattering red”. Upon opening it, I was surprised to find that it has a fruity-floral scent (Super Lustrous Lipsticks are normally unscented). This scent is supposedly inspired by Cleopatra’s ancient Egyptian love potions, and Revlon say that Love Is On is “a captivating shade created specifically to attract more love into your life using positive manifestation.” Oooook! Well, it is a pretty red.

These are apparently Canada-exclusives. There are a whole bunch of them, but I just picked up three. I’ve previously reviewed Tropic Thunder, another Canada-only shade.
SKIN79

Wet n Wild

Wet n Wild eyeshadows are always a fun, cheap thrill to pick up at the drugstore. I have high hopes for this palette, despite the low price. It’s too easy to fall for WnW even if it isn’t on sale.

I picked this up the week after I bought Nude Awakening, since Well.ca obviously had to put Wet n Wild on sale right after I bought some!

My first Wet n Wild mascara!

And some extras!
Sharpie

Who doesn’t love Sharpies? If I could write everything in Sharpie, I would.
Hot Wheels

Finally, Peanut has been begging me to take pictures of his toys, whenever he sees me
snapping away for the blog. This is just for him.
He got this lime green humvee in a 5-pack from my little brother. So he learned the word “humvee”
at the age of about 1½. I don’t think I knew it until I was a teenager.
Wow that is some haulage! Love all that you got. There’s so many products I’ve not seen before that you got xx

You only watched half of The Nice Guys? You living on the edge, aren’t you?! XD
I vow to order something off Cosmetic Love this year… I’ve been window shopping that site for ages!
The Cargo OneBase is quite good. I wonder what’s going on with Cargo? They’re on sale at Rexall too.
Would love to know your thoughts on the CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Fresh Complexion Foundation. I’ve been curious.
Haha the Essence polish DOES look plush and chewy – I think it’s a bit to do with the bottle shape?
Poop that It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balm wasn’t actually green apple. Although honeydew isn’t the worst – imagine if it was durian flavoured instead.
I always take a peek at those “Last chance” bins at Shoppers too. 😉
So odd Sally Hansen has Canada-only exclusive polish shades.
Yay for the Etude House Dr. Mascara Fixer Perfect Lash – I hope you like it! My HG.
Haha the Hot Wheels! Hi Peanut! You should have named this post: Makeup and Humvee haul! XD

We finished The Nice Guys last night! LOL. We have about an hour each night for watching TV if we feel up to it, so it’s either one episode of a TV show, or half a movie 😀
And yes, you should check out Cos. Lov! I need to branch out and try stores like Jolse, too.
I’ve heard Cargo is pulling out of Canada, but might be misremembering. It would be weird, as I thought they WERE Canadian.
Oh and the lip balm IS Green Apple! I just wish it were honeydew, ’cause that’s what I’d prefer. I had a honeydew lip balm from Softlips once, loved the scent but the lipbalm was not for me. Durian…I would SO try that. I love it but it is definitely a stinky fruit.
I’m gonna have to take more pics of Peanut’s cars and trucks. He loves them so and gets too excited when he sees the huge pic on my computer screen. Also this way I can track the ones he loses. Hahahaha.

That would be SO strange if Cargo is pulling out of Canada because YES they originated in Canada!

Oh I misread about the honeydrew vs green apple lip balm. 😳 I once tried a Durian candy out of curiosity. I almost gagged!
Hah like a catalogue of his toys for insurance purposes. I’m sure Peanut would love it too if you printed out the photos for him. Like a photo album of his “precious”. 😆

That’s a lot!! (I guess I shouldn’t be saying that to you coz I’m guilty here as well) but seeing this post, I now miss the Revlon foundation. I used to wear it as well and I used to love it. And that Hot wheels, my hubby collects hot wheels and I got hooked with it as well. I asked if he could get me a mini-version of my buggy (volkswagen beetle) and I got one! they’re just so fun to collect. 🙂

Ohh that’s so adorable that your hubby collects them! I think they’re such a great toy. If I was really into cars, I’d collect them for sure. Our son LOVES them. He has so many as I keep going to Dollarama and picking them up for $1.50 a pop. 😀 So cute that you got one of your own car!

He collects specific ones, like batman, back to the future, etc. I asked him to get a display case too. I will take a pic of it later and will show you. it’s really cute! 🙂
