Collection: Orly 2017 Summer, Muslim Girl #HalalPaint
The first collaboration of its kind where an American beauty brand is catering to Muslim women, the #HalalPaint collection features six uniquely water-permeable nail polishes that are made out of 100% halal ingredients.
Some Muslim women avoid wearing traditional nail polish because it creates a barrier on their nails against ablution water for prayer. With ORLY’s breathable technology, both oxygen and hydration are able to pass through the layer of paint. The collaboration with MuslimGirl.com aims to present a viable beauty solution for Muslim women, as well as a new way to promote nail health.”
There are other lines of nail polish that cater to this demographic (Inglot and Maya Cosmetics immediately spring to mind), and Orly themselves actually released their Breathable Treatment + Color line last summer.
The new collection falls under the same Breathable product line and consists of six new shades with sassy names developed by the Muslim Girl team.
The nail polishes feature tailored names created by Muslim Girl like “Haram-Bae” and “Wallah Bro Wipe Out”, as well as common Muslim girl names like “What the Fatima?”, “Ig-Noor the Haters”, and “The Perfect Amani-cure”, named after the MuslimGirl.com founder Amani Al-Khatahtbeh.
“Many of us are the girls who could never find our names on a keychain, so we wanted to make sure we provided that experience through this collection,” Al-Khatahtbeh says.”
“This line is important because there are so many girls and young women who aren’t represented by mainstream industries. They see things about them that are designed without them instead of for them and by them,” explains MuslimGirl.com chief of staff Azmia Magane. “This is our way of bridging that gap.”
The six shades are:
- The Perfect Amani-cure
- What the Fatima
- Ig-Noor the Haters
- Wallah Bro Wipe Out
The collection ships on July 1, 2017, and you can preorder the set at the official site, halalpaint.com.
