Milani Baked Blushes in Bella Bellini & Rosa Romantica

Milani — Bella Bellini & Rosa Romantica (Baked Blush) Swatch & Review, Plus NARS Orgasm & Deep Throat

Earlier this year (or possibly late last year), Milani introduced two new shades of their highly popular Baked Blushes: Bella Bellini and Rosa Romantica.

I noticed them in a Rexall last month (Canada often gets new drugstore releases fairly late) and have been stalking the weekly sales ever since. Last week, they finally had Milani products on Buy One, Get One 50% off so they came to $6.29 each—yeah, Rexall’s sales can be pretty meh—and I had to run to a larger Rexall to snag both shades. Ideally, I’d have waited for a sale at Well.ca where Baked Blushes are a smidge cheaper, but they didn’t have the new shades at all.

But anyway, I am so happy I got them because they’re utterly gorgeous!

They have the same lovely, soft, highly-pigmented texture of all the other Baked Blushes (see my Megapost here! I think I have all of them except for Red Vino, which I can never find and may have to purchase in the US).

Bella Bellini (12) is a stunner. Milani calls it a “rose gold”, though I think it’s a lot more intense pink than rose gold usually inspires. It’s an azalea pink loaded with golden shimmer: very NARS Orgasm, except with even more shimmer.

Below, I have a swatch comparison of the following blushes:

  • Milani Baked Blush in Bella Bellini (12)
  • Milani Baked Blush in Corallina (08)
  • Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso (05)
  • NARS Blush in Deep Throat
  • NARS Blush in Orgasm

Here are the blushes I’ve swatched together, in the pan. NARS Orgasm is in The Happening palette, which you can see that I have not used very much at all! Of these blushes (not including Bella Bellini, since it’s brand new), I’ve used Luminoso and Deep Throat the most, though clearly it looks like I’ve barely touched them! Hahaha! Ahh I have more blush than I can use up in five lifetimes, I’m sure.

Here is Bella Bellini swatched alongside some other Milani and NARS blushes. You can see that it is the closest to NARS Orgasm. I far prefer the Milani Baked Blushes to the NARS—they’re so much softer and more highly-pigmented. I only needed 1–3 passes with my finger to swatch the Milanis; the NARS required more like 6–8 passes. Now, I can understand liking a less-pigmented blush, but I just prefer using a very light hand with a more-pigmented one. I do wish Milani would do less shimmery blushes, though. Bella Bellini is practically a highlighter!

Rosa Romantica (13) is more of a rose gold to me, albeit a subtle one. Milani describes it as a “light pink,” which does not do it any justice whatsoever.

Here it is swatched on my inner arm. The swatches look a little different from the ones above. This is because for these swatches, I simply swiped the domed Milani blush across my arm, so it got a heavier dose of blush.

I think unless you have quite light skin, this won’t work well as a blush. Still, so pretty, and I’m totally going to use it as a highlighter.

Milani blushes are such a fabulous drugstore deal. You can see more swatches here, in my Megapost. If you don’t mind shimmery blushes—and most of their shades are—then definitely seek them out if you haven’t already!

  1. Ok you lost me at “very NARS Orgasm, except with even more shimmer”
Nope nope nope. I dislike Nars Orgasm due to the shimmer, I don’t need more of it! 😛
I was briefly excited at the prospect of more Milani Baked Blush colours but these are just too shimmery for my liking.

    • LOL yeah they are really shimmery. Like, discoball shimmery. Still, super pretty if you’re into the shimmer. I really wish they’d do more subtle blushes, though.
