New Release: Julep — June 2018 (Plus an Update for Canadian Subscribers)

Collection: Julep 2018 June

Happy Victoria Day! I didn’t grow up in Canada, so whenever there’s a holiday and I don’t know what it’s for, I guess “Victoria Day?” and that’s what happened again last week.

Anyway, Julep’s June 2018 collection consists of five new and two repromoted shades of nail color, plus three new shades of It’s Whipped Matte Lip Mousse in Blush, Skip a Beat, and Blind Date (4.1 g for $20 / $16 Maven):

Julep It's Whipped Matte Lip Mousse in Blind Date, Blush, Skip a Beat (June 2018)

This month’s Nail Color shades are mostly pastels in several finishes. Elisa and May are repromotes.

From Julep:

Seaside escapes are so much better when paired with a sun-drenched palette of nail colors. These easy, breezy shades will transport you to a total summer state of mind.

Here are the seven polishes for June:

May 2018

Roberta
Breezy Turquoise Shimmer

Kelso
Warm Beige Microshimmer

Cathy
Lemon Custard Ghost Shimmer

Samira
Coral Paradise Crème

May
Pale Copper Chrome
(repromote)

Krishni
Clover Flower Crème

Elisa
Soft Wisteria Shimmer
(repromote)

Julep Mavens can customize their June boxes from May 20–24.

Also, I would like to add a note for Canadians thinking of subscribing to Julep. The company has unfortunately had to increase shipping prices for Canada on May 1. It used to be unlimited free shipping if you were a subscribed Maven, which was honestly incredible (and fast, with no duties!), but now it is a flat US$4.99 per shipment for Standard shipping. I can’t say I blame them, though I did make a small order on April 30 to take advantage of my last day of free shipping!

If you are currently a Canadian Maven, the shipping charge will not apply to the existing Maven boxes you have on your account. The shipping charge will be added to any Maven boxes purchased in the future.

Overall, the Maven subscription has also gone up in price—I signed up with a 6-month deal at about $16.67 per box, and when it was time to renew last year, they gave me the same deal for another six months. From now on, however, the subscription fee will be $19.99 per box and no discount will be available for a signing up to an extended subscription.

Honestly, it was a great deal so I do understand why they needed to increase shipping prices. I’m just happy that I got to enjoy a good run there! I’ll still be buying from Julep, but obviously I will try to consolidate my purchases rather than ordering willy-nilly.

Finally, I am not sure if I ever mentioned this, but you can use Ebates Canada (referral link) with Julep, too—though it doesn’t work with my prepaid Maven boxes since you don’t really check out. With any other orders, though, you can get 1.5% cash back.

This is the email they sent out on April 30:

Dear [fivezero],

We have some news that affects you.

Beginning May 1, all Julep.com orders shipping to Canada will have a $4.99 flat rate for Standard shipping. This includes all Beauty Box orders beginning with yourJune Beauty Box. Orders covered entirely by Jules will not incur a shipping fee.

This shipping rate will not apply to your 4 remaining prepaid boxes. We will be unable to renew your prepaid subscription after those boxes, and your account will be updated to a monthly subscription at an increased rate of $19.99/month after you receive your last prepaid shipment.

We love our Canadian customers and tried to make it work. But unfortunately, we can’t sustainably provide free shipping on orders shipped outside of the United States.

Feel free to reach out to our Beauty Advisors at 1-877-651-3292 or maven@julep.com for further questions.

Thank you for your understanding,

The Julep Team

If you sign up for a Julep Maven box (referral link) and use the code POLISHGIFT, you’ll get a free 12-piece Nail Color set!

I did and I loved the colors I got (they’re not always the same).

  1. I’m so disappointed with the shipping charges, but I do understand it. $5 isn’t that bad anyways, but I’m practically drowning in Julep polish so I cancelled. I have way too much!
