Tag Tuesday: Lip Lovin’

It has been eons since I did a Tag post, partly because I haven’t been tagged for anything in a while. Sniff! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Anyway, I came across this tag at The Makeup Honeyโ€”the blogger, Sian, created the tag herselfโ€”and thought it’d be fun to do.

Tag Tuesday: Lip Lovin’

1. What was the first lipstick you ever owned?

CoverGirl in Honeyplum Glow! I can’t remember if my mom let me buy it, or if she gave it to me. Or maybe I just “borrowed” it and she never said anything! I used it all through high school. JUST ONE LIPSTICK. Boggles my mind, now.

2. Which lip product has been the biggest disappointment?

Lipstick Queen’s Sinner Lipstick in Berry. Horrid. I also hate all those pastel lipcolors that end up so chalky and showing every line and bit of dry skin on the lips! I’m looking at you, CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick in Coral Cat and MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Fashion City! Another two fails I remember well were Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Blackberry and Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede in Flashing Lights.

Tag Tuesday! 10 Christmas Beauty Questions

I saw this tag over at Fierce Paint, a Malaysian beauty blogger, and loved his thoughtful answers!

Here’s my version of this festive tag:

1. Have you been naughty or nice this year with your skincare routine?
Definitely nice, if only because I’ve been so bad about it in the past! I have a terrible habit of neglecting my skincare, but since I’ve been blogging regularly since spring, I’ve been perhaps “shamed” into doing a better job. I still need to get more sleep and keep myself better hydrated, but hey, I’m also doing a better job of removing my makeup and using sunscreen!

2. Whatโ€™s the go-to beauty, makeup or skincare product you would gift to your family and friends?
I don’t think there’s any one thing; the people I give cosmetics to are all kind of into different things (eye makeup vs fragrance vs lipstick vs skincare). I love giving lipstick and perfume, though, mostly because I enjoy buying those things! I’d love to give nail polish more, but I think I’m the only nutjob I know.Read More »

Tag Tuesday: Procrastinating Beauty Blogger

SpongeBob Squarepants Procrastination Rainbow Meme

Styled With Joy nominated me for this tag last week, so I’m trying not to procrastinate and am putting this out today!

Thanks, Joy!

Q: Name a beauty regimen that you rarely do?

A: Masks. I’m just soooo lazy to use them. I’d rather go to sleep. LOL!

Q: Is washing your makeup brushes something that you do regularly?

A: I used to do it every week, but it’s since stretched out to two, and (gulp) even three at times. Awful. But I’ve been too busy and too exhausted this holiday season! I’ll wash them this week, I promise!

Q: How long will you last with chipped nail polish?

A: As a nail polish lover but also a massive procrastinator, I think it won’t surprise anyone to know that I actually don’t mind chipped polish that much. Not that I’ll wear it like it’s a thing, but I don’t care much. Life’s too short to worry about that stuff. I’ll change it when I change it. Get off my back, already! (Hahaha.)Read More »

Tag: Favorite Christmas Songs

Everyone’s been doing this, so I just thought I’d throw in my version of this holiday post! I missed Tag Tuesday yesterday, so I’ll just do a late Tag Wednesday.

I am generally a bit of a Scrooge, as I have my birthday in November and I can’t stand it when stores and radio stations are playing Christmas music before it. But, I am pretty much OK with Christmas and other holiday music in December!

Here are some of my favorites from my Christmas playlist, new and old:

Jack Johnson, “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. I love this slightly re-written version of the classic song.

Guster, “ยฟDรณnde Estรก Santa Claus?”.

Roxette, “It Must Have Been Love”. Can you believe they meant this as a Christmas song? Its full title is “It Must Have Been Love (Christmas for the Broken-Hearted)”. SO depressing. But I adore it.

Eartha Kitt, “Santa Baby”. I think this one is just perfect!

Tag Tuesday: Falling Into Autumn

Happy December!

The always adorable Styled With Joy nominated me for this timely tag, and I’ve rushed to complete it, just because I don’t want it to be next fall before I finally get around to it! (I haven’t done one of these in an age, have I?)

The Rules

1. Include the blog links of the tag creators (Lilian and Denise).
2. Thank the last person who tagged you and link their blogs in your post.
3. Be thoughtful and creative when you answer these questions.
4. After answering the questions, pass the tag onto at least five more bloggers to spread the autumn joy!

The Questions

1. What is your go-to fall color?

I love wearing burgundy and oxblood in fall. I also like jewel-tones, for sure. Oranges, purples, reds, emerald greens.

2. When you think of fall, what song comes to mind?

“Groove is in the Heart” by Deee-Lite. No reason, it just always has for me. It makes no sense.

3. During the fall, which trend to do you lean towards more, smoky eye or dark lip?

Usually a dark lip. I love doing dark lips, but I can’t do them as often when the weather’s sunny (just feels weird to me). So I bring out the vampies in fall/winter!

4. Do you change up your skincare routine when fall comes in?

Stronger moisturizer, for sure. I get super dry, flaky skin in winter, and it’s gotten worse over the last year or two!

5. Whatโ€™s your favourite thing about fall?

It’s nice and cool! I am not a fan of hot weather. I also love all the fashion, food and activities associated with fall: boots and scarves, hearty stews and pumpkin pie, visiting museums and taking walks through fallen leaves.

6. Would you rather go out for a walk or stay inside the house during fall?

Walks, for sure. I just don’t like how it gets super cold here in Ontario. We don’t get much of a fall, at all. It’s pretty much winter, already!

My Nominees

I hope that everyone enjoys the upcoming holiday season!

Bon Appetit - Grandma's Pumpkin Pie

The Sweater Weather Tag

At the fivezero homestead, no oneโ€”well, apart from the peanutโ€”is a native born-&-raised Canadian, so Canadian Thanksgiving always sneaks up on us! But hey, it’s fun to have a day off and celebrate Thanksgiving twice (once again in November).

In any case, it’s fall, and I love fall! Any excuse to have pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes, and boozed-up cranberry sauce is A-OK with me.

The Sweater Weather Tag has been going around the blogs lately (the last one I read was by It’s Jordan Leigh), and since I’ve been slacking with the Tag Tuesdays, I thought I’d sneak this one in for the Canadian holiday weekend.

Favorite autumn candle scent?
Anything pumpkin pie-scented. I’m not a huge candle person, but I do like to head over to Winners/HomeSense and pick up a scented candle or two each fall/winter. I don’t know why I don’t feel prompted to do this in the other half of the year! Something about candles and coziness in cool weather, I suppose.

This is one I picked up last year (obviously I do not use candles enough!) and the scent is still incredibly strong:

Goes with the polish I just swatched, too!

Tag Tuesday: 100 Questions No One Ever Asks

Happy Tuesday, everybody! I spotted this tag a while ago over at Chubbychicsdiary and it’s been on my mind to do it, too. Here it finally is (yes, I know you’ve all been waiting with bated breath!):

100 Questions No One Ever Asks

Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?

Do you take the shampoo and conditioner bottles from hotels?
If they’re nice, yeah. My favorite so far has been one DH brought back for me from a business trip: toiletries scented with Le Labo Rose 31!

Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out?
No top sheet. Duvet.

I experience rage in hotels where they tuck the sheets in so tight!
