Often, when my US-based family come up for a visit, I place an order with one of the online nail polish discounters (NailSupplies.us, Head2ToeBeauty, and 8ty8Beauty—no affiliation!) for them to bring up. My mom recently came up to visit and help out with my two year old peanut, since I’m now six months pregnant and can use all the help I can get! So, I placed an order with NailSupplies back in February and she kindly brought it up for me.
Here’s the haulage!
OPI, Orly, and Misa are a bit pricy in Canada, even when you can find them at Winners (and Misa is hard to find entirely!), so over half of my order consisted of these three brands.
NailSupplies recently told me that they were phasing out Misa, so there’s only the remaining stock left there, and no new collections. SAD. I’m going to have to order more Misas, next time.
With the Canadian dollar at around 75¢ to the USD, the Essie and China Glaze prices aren’t great (I can get similar prices when buying in 6+ at a local beauty supply), so I only got a few Essies that were discounted more than usual at NailSupplies:
Since my last six swatches have been from Essie’s Retro Revival collection (some new, some originals), I’ve decided that for the rest of this week, at least, I’ll be focusing on some brands that are either new to me or that I haven’t swatched in a very long time.
Amour falls into the first category. I’m a longtime customer of NailSupplies.us (formerly TransDesign, and I am not affiliated!), and I placed an order late last year. For the very first time, I added an Amour polish to my order! I’ve never seen the brand elsewhere, and Google seems to tell me that it’s only available at NailSupplies. Coupled with this label on the bottom of the bottle, I can only guess that Amour is NailSupplies’ in-house brand:
There’s quite a large selection of shades available, and I went with one that looked a little more unique to me.
June is Here reads more like “December is Here”! It’s a pale, greyed, chalk blue cream.
I’m sure many of us have been insanely busy over the last month or two, and for me, I’ve finally reached a point where I can heave a sigh of relief and, hopefully, get back on track, blog-wise. I hope you haven’t been terribly bored by my recent non-nail polish related posts on perfume, more perfume, washing your hair in reverse, and handbags! While I enjoy collecting perfume and handbags, I’m no full-fledged perfumista or fashionista.
So, back in late November, I posted Part I of my birthday beauty haulage. In this post, I’ll combine Part II with my Christmas haulage.
I splurged on beauty products for my birthday; less so for Christmas. I tend to receive money for Christmas (our families like do that, including DH and myself simply exchanging Christmas budgets so we don’t have to go through the rigamarole of picking out unwanted gifts for each other), and while I spent a bit of it on beauty products—on sale post-holidays, of course!—I spent a lot of it on two non-beauty products, which I’ll post about at the end.
