OPI Nail Lacquer in It's a Boy (SR F91), swatch

OPI — It’s a Boy (SR F91) (Nail Lacquer) Swatch & Review

Collection: OPI 2015 Spring, Oh Baby

Not to be confused with the recently released and similarly-named OPI It’s a Boy! (NL T75), which has no shimmer, today’s swatch was released last year in a spring baby collection. (The pink from this collection, It’s a Girl! (NL H39), was an existing shade from a previous collection.)

I am expecting my second child this summer, and although she’s a girl, I thought It’s a Boy looked too pretty to pass up! Besides, I’m not much of a pastel pink person, and the whole pink for girls and blue for boys thing is a relatively new cultural phenomenon, anyway.

Besides, our little boy, now a toddler, has rarely worn baby blue. Most colors seem to look good on him as long as they’re not muted—he spent most of his babyhood in vibrant red, blue, green, orange, and amazingly, yellow, which is his best color! I’m so envious you would not believe!

I was so sad the day he outgrew this Madras plaid shirt!

Anyway, It’s a Boy (SR F91) is a sheer, light denim blue shot through with fine silver shimmer and microglitter. I got it in a “Together at Last” duo package at Winners—some of these colors are often labeled specifically for the TJ Maxx stores. I also suspect that some customers at Winners swap out the shades for ones they like, since the bottles are not actually attached to the packaging: they pop in and out very easily!

Chanel — Azuré & Blue Boy (Le Vernis) Swatch & Review

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Blue Boy and Azuré

Happy Chocolate-bunnies-and-marshmallow-peeps Day! While pastel Easter eggs are no doubt pretty, sometimes I get sick of pastels. So, today, I am bringing you swatches of two Chanel polishes in non-pastel blues. (One of them makes a cute boy-baby shower gift, so I guess there’s that for a Easter link! Rebirth and all that.)

First up is Blue Boy, which is an adorable idea for someone who’s expecting a boy. Unfortunately, its formula is kind of appalling for the price.
