Sale Alert: Spend Your Points PLUS Event at Shoppers Drug Mart (Canada Only, Feb. 11–12, 2017)

This Saturday and Sunday (Febraury 11–12 only), Canada’s Shoppers Drug Mart is offering a Spend Your Points PLUS Event. The deal is pretty much the same as usual, but you get additional Optimum Points (rather than additional cash off a purchase). This works online at Shoppers’ beautyBOUTIQUE, as well, and they recently started carrying Chanel and Urban Decay, too.

Spend the following Optimum Points and receive:

  • 50,000 points for $85 off, plus $15 worth of Optimum Points
  • 95,000 points for $170 off, plus $30 worth of Optimum Points

The bonus points get added to your account a week or so later.

Here’s what I hauled after redeeming 95k points (it’s pretty easy to rack up the points if you use the app, load the coupons, and buy loads of baby and grocery stuff at Shoppers like I do). I spent $171, so in the end I paid $1 plus the tax on $171, which came to about $23. Also, don’t forget that ebates.ca works with beautyBOUTIQUE, too! It’s 4% cashback today.

Happy shopping! What’s on your beautyBOUTIQUE shopping list?

If you need some ideas, here are links to some of my past Optimum Points hauls (granted, they tend to be a little Chanel-heavy!):

Haulage! beautyBOUTIQUE by Shoppers Drug Mart (September 2016)

This Haulage! post also serves as Part 2 to Online Store Review: beautyBOUTIQUE by Shoppers Drug Mart (Part 1).

My order was placed on September 17, it shipped on the 22nd, and it was arrived to me in Toronto on the 23rd (5 business days), so delivery fell well within the advertised 4–7 business days.

Firstly, I want to mention that about a week after I placed the order, I happened to notice something while I was doing my weekly coupon-loading on Shoppers Drug Mart’s website/app (it’s totally worth it, by the way—I’ve racked up so many Optimum points using the personalized coupons they are constantly cranking out!). My Optimum Points total seemed unusually low, even considering the 95,000 points I had just redeemed over the weekend. Then, under my Transaction History, I saw this:

They’d deducted my redeemed points twice!

As I was already on the Shoppers Drug Mart site, I shot off an email to them via their contact form. Shortly afterward, I received an email saying my message could not be delivered because my Yahoo email wasn’t being accepted. Guys, it’s coming from your own web form. Then, a tweet came to nothing as they asked me to direct message them, and then, via DM, asked me to send them an email. I emailed, then they asked me to call in.

I suppose I could have just called from the start, but what on earth are web forms and email and other methods of online communication for, then? In the end, I had a light bulb moment and checked beautyBOUTIQUE.com, where I’d actually made the purchase. They had their own web form for contacting customer service, so I tried that. (Frankly, it was already 4pm and there were constant drilling sounds coming from an adjacent apartment, so I didn’t feel like shouting over the phone with a CS agent. Not to mention Peanut is very keen on talking to everybody on the phone, even if it’s not for him.)

Online Store Review: beautyBOUTIQUE by Shoppers Drug Mart (Part 1)

Today and tomorrow only (September 17–18, 2016), beautyBOUTIQUE is holding its first ever online-only Spend Your Points Event for Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Points. I am sitting on a big pile o’ points, having skipped redemption during the last one or two events. I’m also racking up those points like mad—along with the usual diapers and other baby things I have to buy, I’m also doing more grocery shopping at my local Shoppers, which has installed a new grocery section.

So, last night I sorted out my beautyBOUTIQUE shopping cart and headed for checkout around 12:15am.

beautyBOUTIQUE by Shoppers Drug Mart, fivezero's order, September 2016

Firstly, I’ll just mention that I’m using Mac OS X (10.11, the most recent operating system) and my browser of choice is Mozilla Firefox. Well, beautyBOUTIQUE doesn’t work properly with Firefox. I couldn’t remove things from my shopping cart. With a long sigh, I switched over to Apple’s default Safari browser. Luckily beautyBOUTIQUE saves your shopping cart to your account and not just in your browser cookies, so as soon as I logged in using Safari, everything in my shopping cart was there.Read More »

News: Murale.ca Closing on Feb. 16, 2016

As I suspected would happen once Shoppers Drug Mart launched beautyBOUTIQUE.ca, Murale.ca, owned by the same company, is to be phased out.

Shoppers Drug Mart is offering a bonus offer, as well: enter the code BOUTIQUE and received 22,000 bonus Optimum Points (remember to link your Optimum number with your account) when you place your first $100+ order at beautyBOUTIQUE.ca.

Murale’s free-standing stores will continue to operate.

Toronto-based Shoppers Drug Mart, founded in 1962, was acquired by Loblaw in 2013.

Sale Alert: Shoppers Drug Mart’s Spend Points Beauty Event (February 13–14, 2016)

Spend the following Optimum Points on Cosmetics & Fragrances and receive:

I’m tempted to redeem since I have enough points! I don’t have much on my cosmetics/fragrance wishlist, though. (Plus, I’ll have to brave the arctic temperatures we’re experiencing!) Do you have any recommendations?
