Since November is my birthmonth and it also coincides with Sephora’s fall VIB sale and seemingly worldwide Black Friday sales, I was a very spendy girl this month!
I do have to admit that it’s really nice having extra birthday money to spend when all the sales come out of the woodwork. I’m also coming off a semi-successful low-buy, so I gotta say the shopping was fun!
I’ll just dive right into them. Here are the items that are in my possession. I’ll do a Part II when the rest of the ordered items show up.
I hope you have fun reading this, and that you’ll comment if you’ve tried anything I got! I look forward to checking out others’ hauls (I always love to read them, even though they make my wishlist grow like crazy!). The prices I’ve added are calculated after sales and eBates cashback.
First off, my Shoppers Drug Mart haul from last Saturday! I redeemed 95k Optimum Points for $200 worth of products. I spent $23 on a gift, and the rest was a nice birthday haul:
Just a reminder that Sephora’s VIB Sale just started today (that’s 20% off from Nov. 13–16, 2015 with the code VIP20). And don’t forget eBates! I got 4% with eBates Canada.
Last Friday, I posted my Sephora wishlist, and here is what I finally ordered tonight. Yes, I stayed up until nearly 3 A.M. EST for the VIB sale. The code actually started working for me at about 2:45. I’m also glad I got in early, because one of the items I ordered—an Ardency Inn eyeshadow duo, and yeah I know I didn’t want to get more eyeshadow!—went out-of-stock almost immediately afterward.
Apart from a few items that I hadn’t 100% decided on (Sephora Formula X Nail Color in Alchemy II, Burberry Lip Velvet in Oxblood, Dior Vernis in Be Dior), everything I really wanted was in stock.
Here’s the damage (this is all coming from my birthday fund this month, and I kept it under C$100):
Sephora’s VIB Rouge Sale just started today (that’s 20% off from Nov. 6–9, 2015 with the code ROUGE20).
Next weekend, VIB members get 20% off with the code VIB20. That’s the group that I fall into, so I’ve been plotting my purchases.
I’m supposed to be on a no-buy until December, but that was ill-advised, since November is my birthmonth, plus all those great fall sales start now! Aaargh.
I’ll just end my low-buy a bit early! I mean, I probably won’t even receive anything I order until late November, anyway. Right?
Here’s my tentative shopping bag. I don’t think all of these things will make it into the final order, and I certainly hope the stuff I really want (the Bésame lipstick in Merlot that I’ve been coveting finally showed up!) doesn’t sell out!
‘Cause I need more nail polish and lipstick like I need a hole in the head…
Sephora Canada recently started selling Bésame Cosmetics online, and despite the fact that I already own quite a lot of red lipsticks, I had to have one. Honestly, how do you pass up retro-inspired lipsticks that come in this packaging?!
Beautiful, right? It’s even slightly smaller than today’s typical lipstick tubes, since that is generally how vintage lipstick cases were made. (The lipstick bullet itself weighs 3.5 g, which is standard for today’s lipsticks, so you’re not getting less product. Just a cuter tube!)
Even the box is pretty:
Bésame’s lipsticks are all based on actual lipstick colors that were made between the 1920s and 1960s (presumably in the US). There is a nice little write-up about the making of their lipsticks on their About Us page.
