Today and tomorrow only (September 17–18, 2016), beautyBOUTIQUE is holding its first ever online-only Spend Your Points Event for Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Points. I am sitting on a big pile o’ points, having skipped redemption during the last one or two events. I’m also racking up those points like mad—along with the usual diapers and other baby things I have to buy, I’m also doing more grocery shopping at my local Shoppers, which has installed a new grocery section.
So, last night I sorted out my beautyBOUTIQUE shopping cart and headed for checkout around 12:15am.
Firstly, I’ll just mention that I’m using Mac OS X (10.11, the most recent operating system) and my browser of choice is Mozilla Firefox. Well, beautyBOUTIQUE doesn’t work properly with Firefox. I couldn’t remove things from my shopping cart. With a long sigh, I switched over to Apple’s default Safari browser. Luckily beautyBOUTIQUE saves your shopping cart to your account and not just in your browser cookies, so as soon as I logged in using Safari, everything in my shopping cart was there.Read More »
I don’t normally post about non-nail polish releases, but I thought this was so pretty that I wanted to give it a quick mention!
Collection: Clinique 2016 Summer, Kiss the Bride
Clinique has released a bridal collection for Summer 2016, called Kiss the Bride, and it consists of new shades of Long Last Lipstick and a beautiful silver compact, Forevermore Compact Pressed Powder in Invisible Matte.
The Long Last Lipsticks—and Long Last Soft Matte—are some of my favorite lipsticks (I have All Heart, Berry Freeze, Merlot, Twilight Nude, and Matte Plum, amongst others) and the new shades are really gorgeous:
Honeymoon (Color Group: Nudes)
I Do! (Color Group: Violet)
Will You? (Color Group: Pinks)
The lipsticks retail for US$17/CA$20.
The Forevermore Compact is a “sleek, luxe keepsake compact. Invisible, lightweight blotting powder instantly absorbs oil and shine, so skin stays matte and looks fresh.” It retails for US$75/CA$93. That seems a bit steep to me, but on the other hand, it does seem like the compact is refillable (you can see a little notch on the side where the pan is placed).
On Saturday, Shoppers Drug Mart ran a Spend Your Points event. I skipped the last such event, so this time, with wishlist in hand, I headed out to the largest beautyBOUTIQUE by Shoppers Drug Mart near me to redeem 95,000 Optimum points for $200 worth of loot.
My wishlist went something like this:
ANNA SUI nail polish
CHANEL nail polish
GUERLAIN nail polish, particularly Black Perfecto
PAUL & JOE BEAUTÉ nail polish (are you noticing a trend, here?)
SOAP & GLORY body scrub
Basically, I wanted those fancy Météorites, a new body scrub, and, well, I always want new nail polish! I had decided to avoid getting any lip products, eyeshadow, and skincare, since I really-really-really don’t need more at the moment.
I didn’t do too badly in the end, as this is what I came home with (the location I went to didn’t have any Paul & Joe and Soap & Glory—bah!):
CHANEL Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Gitane (510), $32
CHANEL Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Roubachka (514), $32
GUERLAIN Météorites Light-Revealing Pearls of Powder in Medium (03), $75
GUERLAIN La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Lip Colour in Black Perfecto (007), $37
GUERLAIN La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Nail Colour in Black Perfecto (007), $27
SHISEIDO Facial Cotton, $11
All prices are in Canadian dollars, by the way, so don’t be shocked if you’re used to US prices! And, yes, we still have to pay sales tax (13% HST in Ontario) on the $200 redemption.
This is the last Ipsy bag I’ll be receiving for the forseeable future, because I canceled my subscription. I actually canceled it before the Glam Bag arrived, as I checked my account and saw what they sent me this month.
