Haulage! Nail Polish, Part I (Summer 2016)

Yes, indeedy, I have parts I and II for nail polish haulage in June and July 2016!

Basically, I can hardly resist a nail polish sale, so just about all of these were picked up on sale from places like Winners, Dollarama, Rexall, Shoppers Drug Mart, Amazon, and Wal-Mart.

Here’s the all damage (5 picture sets in all)…

First, several randoms from Winners, Amazon, and Shoppers Drug Mart.

  • Essie Nail Polish in Violet Auction
  • OPI Infinite Shine Nail Lacquer in Pretty Pink Perseveres (I ordered To Be Continued…, a pastel periwinkle, but a third-party seller on Amazon accidentally sent me this pale pink, instead)
  • OPI Nail Lacquer in Gelato On My Mind
  • China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Bite Me
  • L’Oréal Colour Riche Vernis à l’Huile in Grenat Irrévérent (went to three drugstores to find this product display! The bottle is awesome.)

Haulage, fivezero's nail polish, summer 2016, Essie, OPI, China Glaze, L'Oréal

Next, we have the funky, twisty new bottles of gel polish from Essie. I got the duo from Rexall and the remaining two at Amazon (Canada).

Flower — I Lavendare You! (Nail’d It Nail Lacquer) Swatch & Review

Brand: Flower Beauty

I’ve been making a habit of picking up one or two Flower nail polishes every time I make a Wal-Mart order—which is not all that often, so I have a lot more shades to get before accumulating the whole set. Ha!

I Lavendare You! (NP6) is a very whitened, milky pink-lavender pastel with subtle, sparkly, silver shimmer.

It applies fairly well for a such pastel shade, but it does require three coats for close-to-full opacity. You can see that it’s still a tad uneven, though.

Flower — Evening Primrose (Nail’d It Nail Lacquer)

Brand: Flower Beauty

After being quite happy with my first Flower Beauty Nail Lacquer, Berry Begonia, I went and bought another one (hey, we needed storage bins from Wal-Mart). This time I chose a shimmer finish.

Flower Nail'd It Nail Lacquer in Evening Primrose

Evening Primrose is, despite being seemingly named for a flower that is typically a chipper pastel yellow or pink, is an almost-vampy teal shimmer with hints of pinkish-plum shimmer. It always threatens to flash purple, but never does, and takes on an odd muddy tone. Perhaps it is named for this darker Evening Primrose, instead.

Flower — Berry Begonia (Nail’d It Nail Lacquer)

Flower Nail'd It Nail Lacquer in Berry Begonia

Brand: Flower Beauty

In 2013, Drew Barrymore launched a line of makeup called Flower, available only at Wal-Mart.

While I don’t make it a habit to shop at that retailer, I recently ended up placing a Wal-Mart Canada order for an item I couldn’t find elsewhere, and I noticed that Flower had arrived in Canada (since 2014, apparently). Being the nail polish collector that I am, one bottle of Flower’s Nail’d It Nail Lacquer was added to my order! Sigh.

I remember buying this 1997 premiere issue of Jane Magazine (and I think I still have it somewhere!).

Now, I am going to disclose that I have always liked Drew Barrymore as an actress, despite not usually watching many rom coms and teen coms, which were basically her bread and butter genres. I enjoyed 50 First Dates, Never Been Kissed, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and her cameo in Scream. Whip It, which she directed, was really good. I didn’t even mind Home Fries and Music & Lyrics. And I just found out that she voiced Jillian Russell in Family Guy, so that kinda makes up for her being in Charlie’s Angels and the American Fever Pitch remake.

Plus, E.T.

Therefore, despite the evils of Wal-Mart, I secretly wanted to like Berry Begonia, the Nail’d It color that I picked solely because I thought it looked like a vampy shade of Marsala, Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2015.
