Lise Watier HydraForce Hydra-Protective Comforting Creme

Lise Watier — HydraForce Hydra-Protective Comforting Creme Review

Ooh, happy Friday 13th!

And, completely unrelated to Friday 13th is the rest of my post today.

Lise Watier, a Québec, Canada-based luxury cosmetic and skincare line, recently released HydraForce, a line of “weatherproof moisturizers.” Even though Lise Watier is pretty much the premier Canadian beauty brand, I’d never actually tried any of their skincare—just their makeup (which tends to be very good). So, I was pretty excited when Glam Sense announced that they’d partnered with Lise Watier and I’d be receiving one of the new moisturizers to try out.

As a side note, Lise Watier announced earlier this week that Canadian actress Caroline Dhavernas (Hannibal, Passchendaele, Wonderfalls) as their new brand ambassador. It appears to be a perfect match, as both Lise Watier and Dhavernas are from Québec.

I’ve made no secret of being a big fan of NBC’s Hannibal, in which Dhavernas’ character is almost always wearing the hell out of a wrap dress (be it from Le Château or Diane von Furstenburg). The costume, set, and food design in the show are absolutely first-rate—Mads Mikkelsen and Laurence Fishburne get bespoke suits from Garrison Bespoke in downtown Toronto, by the way!

Poor Hugh Dancy, however, is usually seen dressed from head-to-toe in some nondescript combination of Dockers and Eddie Bauer.

But, I digress…

So, via Glam Sense, I received a full-sized tub of one of Lise Watier’s two new facial moisturizer to review. I got the Hydra-Protective Comforting Creme (for normal to dry skin); there is also a Hydra-Protective Creme-Gel for normal to combination skin.

I also received the Hydra-Detect Hydration Tool, which was quite a surprise when I first saw it in the box. I initially thought Lise Watier had just randomly sent some free audio equipment, too! It’s actually a skin hydration tester with a headphone jack that works in concert with your smartphone and the Lise Watier Hydration App (iOS, Android). The Android version has a few horrid reviews saying it didn’t work; I used the iOS version with my ancient iPhone and didn’t experience any issues. It was pretty fun to use!

Amusingly, the app icon looks like a blue macaroon (perhaps Schtroumpf-flavored?):

Dove — Advanced Hair Series, Body Wash, Beauty Bar, & Anti-Perspirant Review

I received a selection of Dove products via Topbox Canada’s Glam Sense program (see my previous affiliated reviews here), which occasionally sends products to participants in exchange for reviews. The box contained the following items:

  • Nutritive Solutions™ Daily Moisture Shampoo
  • Nutritive Solutions™ Daily Moisture Conditioner
  • Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash
  • Beauty Bar, White
  • Go Sleeveless Original Anti-Perspirant

I don’t currently use any Dove products, with the exception of Clear Tone Sheer Touch Anti-Perspirant, so I thought it’d be interesting to compare mainstream drugstore products to the more natural products I tend to use for hair and body care.

The first two products are for hair, so I’ll describe my hair type as shoulder-length, thick, straight, and dry. There is a more detailed description of my hair type in my TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Reverse System review.

TRESemmé — Beauty-Full Volume Reverse System Review

TRESemmé, the international hair products company, is releasing a “Reverse” haircare system that consists of conditioning the hair before shampooing. Sounds weird, right?

I’d heard of co-washing before, but not this; and yet, it appears that this reverse method of hair cleansing and conditioning has been around for some time (see this overview at Nouveau Cheap, which I’ll reference later in this post). TRESemmé, of course, nearly talk about their system like it’s ground-breaking—it’s new and a game-changer—but to be fair to them, I hadn’t heard of it until I saw their new product line!

I recently signed up with Topbox Canada’s Glam Sense program, which occasionally sends products to participants in exchange for reviews. The TRESemmé package I received last month is the first time I’ve ever participated in Glam Sense.

Peanut interference.

As I said, I wasn’t familiar with this method of hair conditioning, so I was pretty excited to try it out!

I’ll lay out the facts about my hair now, so that we all know what we’re dealing with in this review:
